T-Shirt Tuesday Giveaway: 'F**k Fur'

Profile photo of peta2

Posted January 31, 2012 by peta2 staff

Fur is dead. That is, unless it’s being worn by the animal who grew it. It’s like, if I grew out my luscious armpit hair (and trust me, it’s nice!), would you wanna cut that chunk of skin off my body and wear it around your neck? NO. Yep, it’s that absurd—not to mention grody to the max. Grow your own damn fur! Seriously, who are these nasty people who wear fur?!

Let the world know how you feel about the cruel fur industry. Be bold and sassy in our “F**k Fur” tee, and get the conversation started.

For your chance to win this F**k Fur” tee, comment below by telling us your favorite way to educate people about the cruel fur industry. The winner will be chosen at random.* Good luck!

*The winner will be chosen at random from submitted animal-friendly comments in which the commenter tells us his or her favorite way to educate people about the fur industry. Entries must be received by February 7, 2012. The winner will be chosen at random and notified on February 9, 2012. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you’re agreeing to both by commenting. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law.

I love informing people about the facts, and exactly what they are wearing. Instead of stating opinions i use facts, some people go for it and others blow it off. The point is that i will never give up helping animals because i know they would do the same. <3

I get in there face. I’m not afraid to ask if they know how many bunnies died for her coat that she’ll wear twice. I tell it how it is, no sugar coating. Because they want to wear fur and eat steak, living creatures have to die. You are the Buffalo Bills and Hannibal Lecters of this world…

As a college instructor, I started the college’s first animal rights group where we spread the word about animal cruelty and how we can change things. In my Ethics courses, I make “Animal Rights” our first discussion in which I show videos and give them pamphlets of information; I tell them when they’re finished with the materials to leave them somewhere else, such as a coffee shop or hair salon, so others can also be educated. I also have an animal rights Facebook page and a blog. Thanks for all your help!!

I have always been against the fur industry, but it took a recent video to restart the fire of my repulsion. Here in Las Vegas NV there was a commissioner on the board to manage wildlife that put out a video-he had trapped a bobcat and was encouraging his dogs to torment the poor creature. This video was on youtube for a while and it got the attention of our local news and then the public, including myself. Since then I have been to every meeting covering the trapping issues. It is unfortuante that the board is all men who hunt, fish and many trap, so it’s the fox guarding the hen house. There are a few local groups that are working on the trapping issues and I will continue to do what I can, including informing the public of the horors of trapping so a few people can wear F**King fur.

I’m sick of people getting annoyed at me for trying to show them the truth about fur industries and the horrors animals go through everyday.they think I’m trying to force my beliefs upon them, when really, I’m only trying to get them to acknowledge what they already know, but don’t want to face. i feel like this shirt would be an excellent conversation starter, and if I’m not the one starting the conversation, maybe people would be more willing to except the fact that we speak for the animals, not for ourselves.

I take advantage of the fact that I went to school with a lot of different people of all age groups and work at a very busy mall. During the holiday season I gave everyone at school a card with anti=fur solgans attached to the envelopes and cards– I even gave cards to the owners of the school as well as the staff and instructors. Then at work I gave everyone a candycane with PETA’s “Please don’t wear or buy fur or leather” tags attached to them. It was a great way to reach a lot of different people and start informative discussions and I was able to answer questions people had as well!

I do not believe people are unaware of what they do to animals for fur, I just believe they are in denial. They need to see the evidence over and over to actually understand that all places are like that, because many people have told me ‘no! thats only one place that does that to their animals.’ its really sad.

I always show the video about the fur industry. The video speaks LOUDER THAN WORDS.
When I showed it to my mother, she cried. She didn’t know that fur is obtained this way. When I show and tell my friends in detail, they can’t believe it and say, “ok, I won’t wear that, EVER”
It always leaves them speechless, and impacted immensely. The cruel torture that the animals go through.. their fur and skin getting peeled off ALIVE… is inexplicable and horrible to watch. When it comes to the cruelty of the fur industry, peta, really, I speak out about it. There’s not one day I tell my friends about it. Since it’s cold right now, I’m constantly telling them, don’t buy leather jackets, don’t buy leather boots, don’t buy uggs, don’t buy this..don’t buy that, it’s a product of a murder.. please buy fake.. I really do speak out against this. I want you all to know that I do. I just wish all humans could realize how inhumane this all is, and put themselves in the animals position.

My favorite way to teach people about crulety int] the fur industry is to say “Those boots are gross”. Then they’ll flip and be like “Why? Did i drip something on them? is there dog poop on my shoe???” And I’ll say “None of the above, those boots were once a living thing just like you and me. They are gross skin and fur that is dead. You should try faux fur.”.

The best way to let people know what goes on in the fur industry is to simply show them. Videos can certainly work wonders when it comes to learning something new, and when the truth is told about what really happens to those innocent animals, people are bound to drop their jaws AND their fur coats.

I like to educate people about the horrible things done to animals every way possible. I have written multiple papers for school and participate in blogs that share information about what happens in our society. I also made an album on Facebook entitled “Why I Hate Humanity” that shows graphic pictures of the sickening things done to animals that people look past like it is nothing. (Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.309007429145897.71676.100001099263163&type=3 )
I am also in the process of writing a letter to my school’s administration asking them to get rid of dissection and telling them about the benefits it would have. I give out leaflets informing people about factory farms and how the animals used for fur are captured, also telling people who wear UGGS that it takes one sheep to make a pair of the hideous boots. Along with that, I put leaflets on lockers throughout the school to ensure that people know what is going on in our society. I assure you, my school has plenty of knowledge about what’s going on, but are too arrogant to do anything about it. This shirt would definitely be the icing on the cake on showing my opinions and spreading the word that wearing fur is completely despicable.

I once made a presentation about Animal Rights for my class. One of my topics there was about Fur Clothing. I showed the class pictures of Dalmation puppies, tiger cubs, baby seals, fox cubs, and etc. I asked them what are these pictures I just showed them, and most answered “Pictures of very CUTE/ADORABLE animals.” But then one answered, “Those are pictures of animals that are USED to make Fur Clothing.” I told him that there is something wrong with his sentence, and that he should have used the word “ABUSED”, and not “used”. From there I started my lecture on how abusive and cruel the industry is to these CUTE and ADORABLE animals just to make the Fur Clothing we have now today. I ended my lecture by telling my classmates to don’t buy and support these products. If they see anyone wearing one, speak up and say how heartless they are to wear the fur of innocent and defenseless animals.

After that presentation, my school wanted me to present it again in other schools around our city. And I am willing to do it again a thousand times, if it means it would stop this cruel industry.

A lot of kids at my school are hunters and almost all of them either know about how cruel the meat industry is and they just don’t care or they are totally oblivious. Sadly not everyone is open-minded enough to listen about animal cruelty, so I remind them of the other bagillion upsides to veganism. Also next year I am going to start an animal rights club at my school. :)

Telling people upfront, that not only is fur outrageously expensive, its also not worth the expense with how torturous the animals are treated. There are many substitutes for fur. Also, besides telling someone that, if I see someone wearing fur where I live, I have a right to give them a talking to. If i see people wearing fur the best way to let them know what’s going on is to inform them of the facts that it was once attached to an animal much like their pets at hom and i dont think most people want to wear their loved ones. Making public statements against fur is also a great way to let people know how inhumane and vulgar it really is. I actually wrote a paper about it.

    here it is:

Seals, Sea Otters, Alligators, Loepards, Zebras, Cows, even Dogs and Cats–these are all animals that are regularly sacrificed for our fashion. Personally, I don’t wear fur, and never have. Got leather boots? Two words: Fake Leather. Have a fur coat? Faux Fur. With so many other options out there, there should not be any excuse to wear any animal whatsoever. We put some people in jail for killing certain animals, yet welcome killing others. Does that make sense to you?

Now, will you help fight for defenseless animals that can’t fight for themselves? Or will you go put on a tortured, dead animal?

It’s your choice. But it wasn’t theirs.

I go to a fashion school so it was a tough crowd to deal with, but with a final poll, 100% of the audience agreed that fur is cruel and NOT worth it for the name of fashion. I constantly post stuff on my facebook about it aswell. i promised to give aninals a voice through me. this march, I plan on attending an event at my school where a representative from Donna Karan will be doing a Q and A and I will be asking why DK allows the slaughter of billions of rabbits. I can’t wait to stand up for those rabbits!

As well as being “that vegan” ranting and preaching about speciesism and questioning why it’s okay to have certain animals as pets that you love as family, and then eat and wear other animals that are equally as cute and loveable! And we’re animals too! Everyone freaks out at the idea of cannibals and ( like in Texas Chainsaw massacre) people wearing other peoples skin, but it’s the same thing!!

I also don’t like to be upfront about it, because, honesty, as soon as you start giving them a lecture, they will tune you off. “Peta people” have a bad rap, so it is best to be friendly and nonchalant about it. By raising awareness of the issues through education (videos, stickers, pictures, placards, articles and my voice)by challenging people’s naive attitudes so they can see that they are wrong and by encouraging the right behaviour. Helped 2 of my sisters become veggie with me and boycott fur and walked out on a dissection class stirring up interest into what the problem was which gives a chance to only talk about why dissection is wrong but to lead into why any kind of animal crualty full stop is wrong. By writing debating emails to hunting associations and the like and basically spreading the word whereever i go. Have numerous stickers, posters and clothing which i give out and where all the time not only pushing my argument in people’s faces but giving them a reason to ask me about it directly. If it seems like their own idea people are more likely to want to agree and join the cause!

By sending a petition around my school district and showing pictures of what happens to animals in slaughter houses. They stopped feeding us meat in the caf and started serving soy based products. The schools in my district started using the money they saved to shut down slaughter houses in our area and donated to animal shelters. half of my school is fighting to shut down all slaughter houses in Texas and the others are now vegetarians. I have saved 300 animals from being skinned for clothes.

I really want this and the tank top! I feel this catches peoples attention. People are always reading my peta2 shirts and asking me about them. I like putting fur stickers everywhere and giving literature because I Absolutely despise fur :[

Animals are not meant to steal from
They do not skin us alive and wear us as “fashion”
its not even fashion its nothing but blood and cruelty!

i show them pictures and videos of what really happens, and just tell them facts about it..and i have stickers on my binders and people always ask why so i show them. i might also add something about what if it were your pet in the situation of loosing its fur or being slaughtered for meat that usually gets them thinking and supporting it <3

I do it along the same lines as Lea who has already posted here. You wouldn’t want your dog, cat etc to wear our skin so why is it ok for a tiny amount of people to wear real fur ?
We do also mention the facts about fur farming & show pictures it is all about educating people.

My favorite way to educate others about Fur is by sticking up for what I believe in. I refuse to wear fur or leather. I make sure I always voice my opinion and state the facts about the cruel world of fur. Other ways to make people aware are by advertising Peta and the facts about Fur through the media, whether that is through Facebook, Twitter, or my blog. My favorite saying when it comes to fur is “Faux Fur, or No Fur”.

when i go to work or out to town i like to leave some literature on the tables because i know people will read whatever is on the table for entertainment. or i will ask me where can i get some of your stickers(peta stickers) and i give them some and tell them to check out the website for more information. i tell them all the disadvantages of eating meat and wearing fur and leather. and the advantages of becomming a veg. healthier sking and hair.

I talk to people and let them know where their fur really comes from and I go into details on how it’s done. Half the time I just bring it up, whether people are wearing fur or not. I would rather my friends and family be educated in where it comes from rather than ignorance, which I found to be the norm around here. I think if one person listens to me and does not purchase anything with real fur, than I have done my job.

I tell them everytime they wear fur to think about that animal that was abused, beaten, and possibly skinned alive. I also tell them “if you want those fur boots so much why don’t you go through all that pain and suffering the animals had to go through and are you willing to die for those boots”. People that wear fur make me sick. Shirt size: medium

Using words. Words are the strongest motivators. I have been using words to educate my friends, family and everyone about why we do not need to use REAL fur. Faux fur is just fine. We do not need to kill thousands of animals so us humans can look good or stay warm. How will animals stay warm when we strip the fur or worse KILL them!

I ask them whether they’d wear a human hair jersey or clothing made of human skin. When they say that the animal is eaten and I mention eating human flesh, they become rather grossed out. Grossing someone out makes them think and by making them think, they start realising what the big heads are brainwashing us to do.

By talking to them a little bit and than showing them pictures of the fur industry, they are so sad and gross that most people can only look at them for a few seconds but it shocks them into getting the point across. I still have a couple fliers from two years ago Grow Your Own Fur campaign and I always keep one in my backpack

As a kid, I was and am still curious about the great big world we live in, and I thought nothing of animal abuse. But for some or no completely good reasons, I was getting sicker and weaker. Then one day I heard about PETA while I was on the internet. I got a little curious, and I went veg after finding out meat was one of the reasons I was sicker. Right now, I'm still trying to give up meat for my health. But I'm getting there!
