One of the best ways that peta2 has to spread the message that animals are not ours to exploit is creating animated e-cards for everyone to forward around on the interweb. You know, the ones with the Nugget getting into trouble or the infamous Christmas e-card with zombies eating Tiny Tim. We’re constantly hearing from people who decided to go veg after a friend sent them one of our cards.

Here’s where you come in; creating these e-cards is really time-consuming (and costs a lot of $$$), so we’re looking for any and every freelance Web designer who would be willing to donate their services and create a Valentine’s Day e-card for peta2. Whether you spent years going to school for Web development or you taught yourself how to use Flash, we want to see what you can do!

If you’re down, send your creative Valentine’s e-cards in Flash at 500×500 pixels to The best one will be featured on the front page of our site and the designer will get lots of free stuff from Also, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that that tens of thousands of people are going to see your work. To get you started, here are some ideas we came up with:

– A parody of The Dating Game where you can pick between three dates: fur hos J.Lo and Paris Hilton or a “bunny”, which as it turns out is anti-fur activist and Playboy Playmate Lauren Anderson!
– Something with Chuck Norris roundhouse kicking animal abusers.
– Chickens rubbing beaks. They fall in love too!

Feel free to take these ideas and run with them, but we’d love to see what else you’ve got up your sleeves that we haven’t even thought of. The deadline for this is February 1st. Get on it!

It’s really refreshing to see people who put helping animals before all else. The dedication of the Street Teamers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting at demos and conferences all over the U.S. helps keep my hopes up when I start to lose faith in the human race. (I mean, who wouldn’t lose faith after hearing about something like this?) My hero of the day is Chelsea Strawls from Scranton, Pennsylvania. Chelsea came out to Linday’sKFC protest in Scranton even though she had just gotten her wisdom teeth removed and could barely talk. Chelsea played police officer for the day and arrested evil ol’ Colonel Sanders for torturing animals.

Speaking of Lindsay, she and a ton of other PETA staffers will be in Louisville on February 4-5 for the Helping Animals 101 conference. After that, we’ve also got conferences planned in Atlanta, Minneapolis, Philly, Rochester, Miami, Seattle, Dallas, and Boston. Check out HelpingAnimals101.comfor all the details.

So, who’s going?!

Jason is also going out on the road, possibly coming to a town near you! He’ll be touring the states like a rockstar with Taste of Chaos. At each of the shows he’ll need two people to help table. If you’re interested, apply for a spot at you could be getting in for free!

Have you guys heard about the cyclops kitten? I’m not sure what to make of this.

If I was Pat Robertson, this is where I’d say that this was God’s way of punishing kittens for being so damn cute. Poor guy. My canine friend Memphis only has one eye because the idiot who he lived with before me left him outside all day long so he ran into a piece of metal. Don’t make fun of him though, he’s tough as effin’ nails.
