The Results Are In: Vegetarians Win Again!

Well, the peta2 fall debate season is in full swing, and man, are we on a roll!

Already this semester, we’ve brought our “Is Eating Meat Ethical?” debate events to some of the largest and most influential university campuses in the nation. We turned “cattle country” upside-down at Texas A&M; brought in a record-smashing crowd of more than 1,000 students at James Madison University; gave the meat industry a mild heart attack by exposing cruelty in the Heartland at the University of Oklahoma; and stormed the student-dense Northeast by taking over both Boston College, and Boston University.

Then, just last week, we organized a high-profile debate at one of the country’s top schools—Princeton University!

When we determined that we were coming to Princeton, we knew we had to be prepared. That’s why we decided to bring in the big guns—PETA vice president Bruce Friedrich joined up with iconic ethicist Peter Singer, author of Animal Liberation (the book that inspired Ingrid Newkirk to want to start PETA 30 years ago). As a team, they faced off against representatives from the Princeton debate team, who (unfortunately for them) had the task of attempting to defend eating meat.

The event itself drew a standing room only crowd of more than 200 students, many of whom cast votes at the end of the debate, stating who they thought won. The vote results were printed on the front page of the student newspaper the very next morning:  Students voted in favor of vegetarianism by a two-to-one margin!

Haven’t been able to make it out to a campus debate yet this semester? Rest assured, we’ve just getting started!

*Cough* Minnesota *cough*

-Ryan!

Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ

I want to get into marketing but not have to rely on people which have different morals and worldviews than I do to hire me. While I'm figuring this out, I want to show everyone what I believe in and spur them into action against injustices.
