Attention all you high school seniors … ABC Television Network has just announced, The Scholar, a new reality series. Set at a major university, The Schola, will be the first unscripted series ever to celebrate higher education as the ultimate American prize. Fifteen high school seniors, who might not otherwise have an opportunity to pursue a top notch college education due to financial restraints, will be given the chance to compete for a full ride scholarship to the college of their choice. We would LOVE to see a vegetarian get on the show! Check out this link for all the details. What do you guys say, any of you feel like applying?
Halloween is just two days away, have you guys carved pumpkins yet? You should do what I did – carve a PETA message or Web site into the pumpkin and voila! An illuminated activism tool. We’ll give you points if you send us photos of your animal rights themed pumpkin.
For all of you who are going to be Colonel Sanders, here are some tips that we include in the letter we sent you (in case you accidentally threw it out):
’Ä¢ Get yourself some old white clothes. A white button-up shirt and white pants will do. Even a plain white T-shirt could work. Spatter some “blood” all over the clothes and maybe a little on the colonel’Äôs face.
’Ä¢ Use props. Pick up a pair of horns from your local costume shop, or make your own! Colonel Sanders may have a grin on his face, but we all know that he is really quite a devil. Find a fake knife to wield and a rubber chicken to hack at.
’Ä¢ Pair up with a crippled chicken, or better yet, chase one around town.
Need to whip up extra “blood?” here’Äôs the recipe:
’Ä¢ An empty gallon jug
’Ä¢ 3 bottles of light corn syrup
’Ä¢ 4 bottles of red food coloring
Pour all 3 bottles of syrup into the jug. Next, fill the jug half way with water, then add all 4 bottles of food coloring. Shake the jug really well, as the syrup and the water are hard to mix together. You can tell if it’Äôs well mixed by holding it up and checking for any syrup at the bottom of the jug. Once it’Äôs mixed, fill the jug the rest of the way up with water and give it one last shake.
After Halloween, send us your photos and we’ll post them all here!
The moment I’m sure a lot of you who comment here on the blog have been waiting for, we will now announce the winner of the free record from The Blood Brothers that we promised. firstname.lastname@example.org will receive a copy of the Bros’ first 7″ on Hopscotch records. Hoorah for vegan pizza!
Additionally, we will be awarding another prize to email@example.com.
Leave us tons of comments over the weekend kids.
