OMG!
Can you explain to me why there is international outrage over the recent video of a girl throwing puppies into a river … and yet most people pay for this to happen?
Every year, MILLIONS of male chicks are THROWN into grinders ALIVE because they’re useless to the egg industry. Why? Because they can’t produce eggs.
This “procedure” is standard for “free-range,” “organic,” AND commercial eggs. If you truly love animals and don’t want to pay for ANY of them to be thrown and killed, don’t eat eggs. Nowadays, there’s no excuse to support this cruelty when there are so many humane, delicious, and healthy (AKA minus salmonella) alternatives.

I think it’s important that this kind of information gets out to people who think that “free range” or “organic” labels on their carton of eggs at the supermarket means the same thing as “cruelty free”. The fact that this kind of stuff happens where thousands of chickens are ground up while fully alive and conscious every single day in “farms” all over the world and is not shut down absolutely disgusts me! I’m spreading the word to everyone I know!

Is there no way to stop this? There has got to be a more humane way to put eggs or chicken on the plates of Americans. We will never force everyone to give up meat but can’t we adopt a better more compassionate way? Have we forgotten that we are human beings and what if we were at the bottom of the food chain and we had to endure this? Ugh…

This is really sad, why are they killing the male chicks just because they have no use?! thats bull! this needs to stop. my mom gets chicks for her class and they usually send them off to farms but i think i should just keep them

Is there nothing can be done to stop this practice? Public campaigns maybe? I bet 90% of people do not know this happens to the chicks – I certainly didn’t, I thought they just used them for their meat (disgusting too I know)
Why are they allowed to get away with doing something so inhumane in this day and age?
I am so glad I went vegan, if I was still eating eggs and saw this I would have been so messed up to think I was causing this

To answer your first question, because people care more about puppies than chicks. I can’t believe this happens to chicks. I saw this video in school, and it said that when the chicks beaks are cut off they compared it to a fingernail. And I knew right then and there that it’s BS, it does hurt for those chicks. Thanks for showing this video, it makes me proud to be a vegan:)

This is absolutely disgusting and horrible!! i can’t eat eggs because i’m allergic to them so i guess i’m better off eh!? but the thing is as much as people like to say yes they don’t eat eggs but unless you go searching for a bread recipe and other cake recipes and all that crap that don’t have eggs your going to continue this crap!!! we can’t really help it we’ve just got to work together to try and stop the cruelty!! because at the moment there is nothing we can do about stopping egg eating or meat eating there are too many ppl out there that eat meat and there is practically no way that we’re gonna get them to stop because too many ppl don’t care!

I’m going to go vegan when I start college
Or earlier, but that’s my goal. Although, my friend has pet chickens that live happy lives and are her pets first, pets that happen to produce eggs. She’s not going to waste the eggs so she’s going to give them to people, that way they don’t buy as many eggs from the store. I’ll eat some of the eggs from her chicken, because they are treated well.
But that’s just terrible, it really is.
