That’s right, folks—Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Festivus have come early this year, in the form of yet another national restaurant chain adding (vegan) veggie burgers to menu!

According to a press release:

“Denny’s is excited to partner with Amy’s to offer a delicious, better-for-you veggie burger in over 1,500 restaurants any time of the day,” says Minh Huynh, Denny’s Product Marketing Manager. …

Denny’s chose Amy’s because it’s a great-tasting, high quality product attached to a strong brand, and, unlike the restaurant chain’s prior veggie burger, it satisfies vegan requirements.”

That was all peta2 staffer Cody and I needed to hear before we were out the door for an early lunch break!

Having just returned, I can happily report that this burger is thick and juicy (as if manly men like us would eat anything less).  It comes topped with spinach, tomato, and grilled mushrooms, plus a side of balsamic vinaigrette.  As a note, it does come with Pepper Jack cheese, unless you specify otherwise, so just make sure to request it sans cow’s milk.  I also topped mine with some tangy barbecue sauce and sautéed onions, and served it alongside a batch of perfectly-seasoned curly fries.

All in all, this burger’s a winner, and many Denny’s locations are even open 24/7, so what are you waiting for! Make sure to leave positive comment cards afterwards so Denny’s knows that we love their vegan options!

    Great news!

I believe the wheat bun it’s served on contains HONEY, although Denny’s also offers a totally vegan white bun.

Denny’s will cook the veggie burger on a separate pan per request, if that’s important to you.

The fries are vegan and delicious.

Awesomeness! This is going to be a great help for vegans on the road. You know those typical rural American towns with a Wal-Mart, McDonalds and Denny’s and that’s it.

    This is so exciting!
I was out with my friend one night, it was about 3 AM and NO WHERE was open but Denny’s.
He’s not vegan or vegetarian (unfortunately), so his menu options were fine, but I was limited to a salad and some french fries.
I had really wanted a veggie burger, but it wasn’t vegan at the time.

It’s great to know that I have this option now :]

Yummy! Can’t wait to go there. I still remember my first vegan burger at Red robins, mmmmm :) Hey are the fries and the buns vegan? or should I just forego those?

Did they cook it on a separate grill…or on the same grill as the meat?
