Then: Veggie burgers came in powder form.

And you had to add water to make them not so … blah.

Now: The possibilities are endless—there are crispy “chicken” patties, vegan sliders, mock sausage patties, and more!

Then: Vegan stereotypes looked like this:

hippie car van

Now: Vegans are rock stars, athletes, politicians, and everyday people.

Famous vegan people

Then: Cruelty-free fashion only came in brown and brownish.

Now: Many high-end designers and major fashion retailers sell a wide range of fashionable vegan clothing items and accessories.

Then: Dining out when vegan:

boring french fries

Now: Chipotle, Denny’s, Johnny Rockets, Taco Bell, Starbucks, and many others eateries offer countless vegan options.

vegan food everywhere

Then: Trying to find vegan recipes:

Now: The possibilities are overwhelming.

Then: Telling people you’re vegan:

head no

Now: “OMG, me too!”

Then: Going vegan was a lonely, scary process.

Now: peta2 is your vegan BFF and will even send FREE vegan recipes straight to your phone.

Then: Soy milk was your only option at the grocery store.

Crying against wall

Now: You can pick from almond, hemp, soy, rice, and even coconut milk!

And that’s not all—dairy-free cheese, sour cream, and ice cream are available in many stores!

Then: Vegan junk food:

peanut butter jar

“What?! Three tablespoonfuls of peanut butter—one more than the recommended serving?!”

Now: 7-Eleven is vegan heaven!

Then: Being vegan:

Then: peta2 staffers.

Now: Being vegan:

Now: peta2 staffers.

Many things have changed, and while being vegan has never been easier, one thing remains the same—being vegan saves lives!

Awesome post! I remember those powdered veggie burgers. There are so many options now, so why NOT go vegan to help animals and the environment? :)

I'm a therian /otherkin wolf lycanthrope that sees this lifetime in this body as a punishment that the god and goddess has bestowed upon me, but I try my best to do good to all living beings except usually humans which I hate and detest with all my being.
