Our furs may be faux, but this glam ain’t!

Fall in love with cruelty-free fashion this winter! Your cold bones will thank you, and so will the animals! Leather, shearling, angora, and fur are all products of the cruelty that millions of animals are forced to experience every year. With fashionable alternatives available at stores like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe—and even your local thrift shop—no one has to wear animal skins at all!

Vegan Leather

Cows used for leather are treated just as terribly as the cows suffering in the meat and dairy industries. The cruel practices that cows face include confinement, dehorning, tail-docking, extreme crowding, and many other forms of torture that no one should experience—especially in the name of fashion.

Stop walking around in dead cow skin—there are excellent alternatives out there! Vegan leather is widely available and oh-so comfortable. Check out these awesome alternatives to leather:

Faux Shearling

Sheep are gentle individuals who feel fear, pain, and loneliness—just like you, me, and all other animals. Shearers are usually paid by the volume of wool they steal from the sheep, which means the sheep’s welfare is completely disregarded. The carelessness of the shearers results in frequent injuries for the sheep, and their wounds are often sewed shut, without any pain relief.

Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered (literally!). Protect yourself from the cold with these hip cruelty-free jackets. Stay warm—but cool—with these cruelty-free alternatives:

Angora Alternative

“Is a clothing item worth causing the screams, pain, and death of bunnies?” This is something you should ask yourself before buying anything made with angora. On angora farms, rabbits are either suspended in the air or stretched across boards when their fur is ripped or sheared from their bodies, causing them to scream and fight for their lives, which often end within one or two years, even though they naturally live up to 12 years.

Be as cute as a bunny—without wearing one! Look for fluffy sweaters made with materials like acrylic and nylon:

Faux Fur

Eighty-five percent of the fur industry’s skins come from animals living captive on fur farms. Just as with animals who are raised for food, the welfare of the animals on fur farms is completely ignored. Minks, foxes, rabbits, and even cats and dogs are bludgeoned, hanged, anally electrocuted, bled to death, or even skinned alive for their fur.

Faux fur can be easily found just about anywhere. Glam it up or dress it down. Faux fur is extremely versatile and even more fun:

These skins may be faux, but the fashion sure isn’t! Unleash your inner fashionista or fashionisto, save animals, and stay warm this winter. And always remember: Hurting animals is NEVER in style.

Stand up for animals, and ask BCBG to stop selling angora and fur!
