After years of campaigning by PETA, Zoocheck Canada, and local residents, provincial authorities in Alberta, Canada, have finally ordered a decrepit roadside zoo called Guzoo Animal Farm to close its doors.

Numerous reports have documented that hundreds of animals—including tigers, cougars, dogs, a lynx, and a baboon—were living in feces-filled cages and cramped pens, denied adequate food, water, and shelter from the elements. “Grossly substandard and filthy,” wrote a Calgary zookeeper in a 2002 report. “A disgrace to the people of Alberta and those who care about animals,” said a retired Toronto zookeeper in 1998. In 2007, Zoocheck Canada documented more than 100 violations of the already minimal provincial standards for zoos.
Animals in other depressing roadside zoos still need your help—animals like Ben the bear and others at the Jambbas Ranch in North Carolina. Please ask officials to follow Alberta’s lead and shut down the zoo for good.

Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ
I'm tall, a geek, nacho - obsessed, I love sewing and Cath Kidston, also I'm vegetarian (wannabe vegan.)
Well let's just say life ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride. I love all my pets and would do anything for them. I have one dog, two cats, a ferret and my babygirl shaymin,(the cutest hedgehog alive) I'm into all different kinds of music. I'm a singer myself and love art.
I love animals about as much as rock, heavy metal, tea, and coffee. Hoping to make a difference and help animals through PETA!!!
I want to get into marketing but not have to rely on people which have different morals and worldviews than I do to hire me. While I'm figuring this out, I want to show everyone what I believe in and spur them into action against injustices.
I am Angela. When I am not helping animals I am listening to music, reading, or playing video games. My spirit animal is a fox and I love nature. What else is there to know? Want to know anything about me, need advice or anything message me :)

June 11th and GuZoo has yet *another* 60 day permit to go on. And even if the owner doesn’t kill the exotic animals and have them stuffed, the small domestic animals will continue to suffer if he is able to re-open as a petting zoo. There are no regulations in place in Alberta for petting zoos. Please, PETA, we need an Action Team on this to make sure the little ones don’t continue to suffer!
And yes, I have been there and seen with my own eyes the conditions that the animals are forced to live in. I’ve rescued 11 animals from that abomination and all of them have real medical issues stemming from their treatment at that roadside hell.

Yes, it has taken a lot of hard work by Zoocheck, CAAWPS, and other local animal groups years to close this place. Wasn’t aware that PETA had anything to do with it though.
The main thing is that it’s closed. Zoocheck will foot the bill for moving the animals, and CAAWPS is working tirelessly to find appropriate sanctuaries. Lynn Gustafson, the owner of the zoo, has said he’ll try to send them to taxidermists. Wants to start the ‘Texas Chainsaw Zoo’, I guess.

This is great news, but the fight isn’t over! Please sign the petition to stop the owners from killing all the animals to sell them to a taxidermist. Animal welfare associations have offered to cover all the costs of relocating the animals, they are doing this out of spite and greed. This petition is for the local SPCA to take them to court, and have their animals confiscated and located to rescues(currently they have just been ordered to shut down operations).

Yeah I saw this in my newspaper this morning but the article made it sound like it was a bad thing it was closing
I think the person who wrote that article might need to rethink it.

This is great! But what will happen to the animals? Please answer. I feel hesitant thinking this is good because they could go to a bad zoo or game farm.
