John Feldmann and his wife Amy had their baby this weekend. His name is Julian! This boy is certain to be a kick ass activist for animals and/or punk rock legend in no time. Best of luck to you, Feldmanns.
If you live in the LA area, you should join John and ADL for an anti-fur demo this Saturday, August 27th, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the Neiman Carcass located at 9700 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Go here if you need a reason to go other than the chance to cause a ruckus with Feldy.
At my high school in Florida, we had all sorts of vegetarian options. We’re talkin’ veggie burgers, mock “chicken” nuggets, and Silk soy milk sippy cartons. The only way we got these really tasty options was by talking to dining services directly and saying, “Hey, how about adding these low fat, vegetarian items to the cafeteria menu?” I was a little nervous going into my meeting with the head of dining, but it was actually really easy. As it turned out, she was pretty excited that a student wanted to help make the menu more healthy. Now it’s even easier for all of you to veganize your caf with this pack of printable materials peta2 has come up with.
Why should you veganize your cafeteria? Well, besides the fact that it’ll make more vegetarians, we’re going to give one lucky school free veggie burgers for a day. Check out this latest peta2 mission/contest for all the details.
I leave you with the following story from the other side of the pond.
A fish caught in an east German lake near the Polish border not only got off the hook but also lured a 46-year-old fisherman to his death, police in the eastern town of Eisenhuettenstadt said on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman said the fish pulled the fishing rod out of the man’s hands and dragged it about 100 metres away from shore at the Kleinen Pohlitzer lake near Eisenhuettenstadt. The man took off his clothes and swam after the pole.
An eyewitness said the man reached the rod floating on the surface but then suddenly stopped moving. The witness, 54, swam out to help him and pulled the fisherman back to shore, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
