Wet Seal Campaign on MTV News.

So you know how the boys in The Used signed a letter to Wet Seal telling the company to stop selling fur? Well, news spreads fast… MTV News ran this blurb about the letter from Bert, Quinn, and Jeph:
The Used sent a letter on Monday to Wet Seal, reminding the clothing chain of the living and dying conditions of rabbits bred for their pelts. “Young people today realize that fur is horrifically cruel,” the band wrote, “and they don’t want to support a store that supports the mistreatment of animals.” The PETA supporters are asking Wet Seal to stop carrying fur in both its stores and its catalog.
Ian From New Found Glory Pays a Visit.
Our good buddy Ian Grushka from New Found Glory came by the PETA office here in Norfolk, VA today. The band is playing in Norfolk with Reggie and the Full Effect tonight, so Ian stopped in to model the new T-shirt he’s designed for PETA! You can see Ian wearing the shirt on New Found Glory’s current tour, and it will be available on peta2.com in May. J. Lo Gets Educated on the Cruelty of Fur.
PETA’s campaign against J. Lo’s fur-ladden clothing line is going extremely well. Fans are refusing to buy J. Lo’s new CD until the “artist” stops promoting the cruel fur industry, and now the media is even getting in on the action! During a recent interview on an Australian radio station, J. Lo said “If someone would like to educate me and bring something to light that I don’t know, that’d be great.” The radio host used this as an opportunity to tell J. Lo about how foxes are skinned alive on fur farms. J. Lo was so shocked that she sat silently and did not respond. The story ran on Teen People’s web Site with the headline “J.Lo Gets Schooled…Fur Real”.
As if things weren’t bad enough for Mrs. Lopez, it appears that her CDs, as well as posters and magazines featuring her photo, are being covered in stickers reading “I’m An Asshole, I Wear Fur.” That certainly can’t be helping record sales.

Wet Seal Protests in California.
PETA’s Pulin Modi and Paul Kercheval have been in California for the past week or so, protesting at Wet Seal’s headquarters south of Los Angeles. The boys handed out leaflets to hundreds of Wet Seal employees as they entered their office, and were even able to confront CEO Joel Waller himself with a bodyscreen tv showing PETA’s recent undercover investigation into the Chinese fur farming industry. Unfortunately, Mr. Waller still has not contacted PETA with Wet Seal’s pledge to adopt a permanent fur-free policy, but he certainly got the message up close and personal.

Last Friday Pulin and Paul also held a Wet Seal protest outside of Santa Monica Place along with local activists and John Feldmann of Goldfinger. If anyone didn’t know yet, PETA2 (hearts) John!

Also, Pulin and his bunny friend made a few stops at Wet Seal stores around the Los Angeles area to talk with customers and employees.

You may not have the nerve to walk into Wet Seal with a giant bunny costume on, but there are plenty of other ways for you to help the campaign. Every little bit helps!
