What Do You Eat At School?

Does your school serve vegetarian options or does the cafeteria resemble something more along the lines of a butcher shop? Do you think most students have had a chance to meet their meat?

Whether you’re in high school or college the fact is that when you’re in school, you are around people who are in a very unique learning environment.

But let me ask you a question. What’s the point of your school offering something like Health class or a course all about the environment if there isn’t any way to turn that classroom lesson into real world action?!

Here at peta2, we’re a big fan of education as one step to changing the world. It’s not going to happen just from reading books and writing reports, though. We want every one of you to make changes in your school and local communities with our Street Team.

One of the best things you can do to help animals is to make your school vegetarian-friendly!

We created a brand new guide to help you, and we’re always willing to send you free stickers, leaflets, posters, and DVDs to help spread the world about cruelty to animals, healthy eating, and environmental sustainability. Check out the guide and e-mail peta2@peta2.com if you need anything mailed out to you. Just give us an idea of when you need it and how many people you are going to reach!

Download your guide now!

Get to work. It’s still very early into the school year, so we want to work with you to make changes happen! Schools can’t keep getting away with serving such disgusting food. With a little work, you and your friends will be able to enjoy some amazing options at school within a couple weeks!

I forgot to pack my lunch one day, and was extremely hungry so I asked the cafeteria lady my vegetarian friendly options the “delicous” choices she gave me was a salad with chicken in it (she told me to pick out the chicken), a bag of chips, an apple, or (and I’m not lying here) two slices of white bread with about six slices of American cheese in it! Needless to say after this eye-opening talk with the lunch lady I went hungry that day! So yeahwe definately need options that don’t make u wanna puke all over the lunch lady

At my current school, which is small, the only thing vegetarian friendly is a tiny bowl of lettuce and maybe fruit. And at my previous school, which was larger, you could either eat a brown salad with green eggs or, if you were lucky, a muffin with a little cup of trix yogurt. :
    We need choices.

So I will get right on it =D

I think we should stand up for what we believe in! Being scared gets us no where and neither does agression. I think I should have the oppurtunity to be offered food that doesn’t give me cancer, osteprosis, obetes, or diabetes and so should you! Right now I bring my lunch in a reusable container and inform my friends about the benefits of being a vegetarian( being healthy, helping the enviroment, proving animal cruelty is wrong, and going against the grain that vegetarians have to be rich), but now I want to be offered a heathy,in every which way for everyone, lunch! Stand up for yourself you only get one life. Let’s show the World :)

Correction, reusable containers, but recycling is good for the environment too.

Sure, it’s a great idea, but it seems that no one these days brings lunches to school in recyclable containers! I do every day, as the cafeteria food isn’t that great anyways. We don’t really have a vegetarian option, but seriously, why don’t you make your own food and reheat it at school? Or even make and bring a Yves brand fake meat sandwich?! No reheating required. Really, people are being silly, its senseless to sit there and starve.

they dont actually have a lot of vegetarian choices at my school either, which by reading other comments, not a lot of schools do. if only there was a way to make a point to the whole school, like an assembly? but how do i talk the principal into letting some random sophmores have an assembly?

In my school we have ALOT of vegetarians. Me and all my friends sit there hungry during lunches because they don’t have any vegetarian choices. So this is a good idea, and I’m going to get right onto this!

i dont really know much about my schools dining hall, i havnt been in for a while.
when i used to go in, they made a roast dinner, so i asked for that but without the meat.
the woman was like.. “WITHOUT the MEAT?!” so i said yeahh.
she gave me proper weird looks after that.

    this is a great idea!!
but where i go to school (central Kentucky)we’re pretty much poor and they have a “salad” bar everyday. and there’s not too many vegetarians/vegans, so they would say that they just can’t afford it..any ideas on how to get them to change their minds?? i kind of enjoy eating with my friends instead of just sitting there hungry.
