Many of you have seen the promotions for internships posted on PETA.org and peta2.com, so now I want to share with you what a couple of PETA interns have learned this summer! Avleen and Anissa both traveled overseas to join us in Los Angeles, and below is their experience in their own words:
Avleen: “It’s amazing to be at a place where everything you do—even small tasks—plays a part in helping animals in need. From protesting to inform people about cruelty to animals in circuses to signing online petitions to researching cruelty-free companies (and even eating free scrumptious vegan lunches every day!), every task plays a small part in the sequence of events that can change the way one person thinks about how we treat other earthlings. Taking the first step is hard, and the thought of activism can be daunting—approaching random people on the street is just asking for trouble, right? But interning with PETA has given me the skills and confidence to put my compassion into action. You will learn how to be a voice for animals, which is a voice that the world needs.”
Anissa: “Deciding to intern at PETA is definitely a choice I would make again. Everything I did during my internship—from working on various in-office tasks to participating in protests—taught me more about animal welfare, nutrition, health, and environmental concerns than I could have learned anywhere else and helped me develop skills and the confidence necessary for any job.”
Does this sound like something you’d enjoy? If so, apply! If you have any questions, please don’t be shy—e-mail us.

I’ve been a vegetarian for a full year now and have Warped and my best friend to thank for that. I was given a bunch of PETA info at Warped last year and after just looking at the pics alone, I was convinced that I had to at least give it a try after my best friend had been nudging me to try it as well. The first week was pretty easy and I did quite a bit of research as to make sure I would be eating the right things. I’ve gotten a lot of crap for it from fellow peers at school but that never stopped me. Yay vegetarians!

I was a vegetarian for the first 14 years of my life. My mom’s been one since she was 12 and that’s just how we ate. I decided to go vegetarian again a few months ago because I didn’t feel comfortable eating what I was eating knowing the lives they had to live before they were killed.

Hello,
My name is Marly Bright, and I am a member of the PETA team. I’m emailing you today to ask you to stop using the animals for your training. It is CRUEL and UNNECESSARY. There are other ways to get the training. How using animals helps any in comparison to PEOPLE on the field, I will never know your reasoning. My question is that you will please stop this abuse!
