Over the years peta2 has brought you interviews, contests, and PSAs from a number of different extreme sports athletes. Everyone from X Games gold medalist Paul Rodriguez to MTV prankster turned movie producer Rob Dyrdek to world renowned motocross star Carey Hart. Today I’m psyched to introduce Pep Williams. Pep is truly old school, holding it down as a Third Generation Dog Town skater. Check out our Q&A with Pep Williams, and enter to win a limited edition skate deck!

1. Tell us a little bit about where you’re from and what you do.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and I’m a professional skateboarder and photographer.

2. What made you want to get involved with PETA?
I went to the pound with my friend looking for a dog. She picked a cool lil dog and she was happy. I was talking to one of the staff and I asked what happens if they aren’t adopted. He said they are put to sleep. I felt sick to my stomach; couldn’t believe it. The cats and dogs were so healthy. So I decided to try and help in some way, so I reached out to PETA to learn more.

3. Of all of the major animal rights issues what issues are particularly close to your heart?
It all hits close to home, but you will never see me in fur. When I see people in them (fur coats) I just get a cringe in my stomach.

4. As someone who lives on the coast of California and is exposed to lots of marine life, what are your thoughts on the Canadian seal hunt and the fact that every year hundreds of thousands of seals are legally killed for their skins?
I see seals every day. I live by the beach and hear them every morning. I watch them fish. It’s a very calming thing to see. Dolphins show up sometimes as well. I think it sucks they are hunted legally. They are such peaceful and playful animals. Anything I can do to help them or any animal I’ll be first in line!

5. What advice would you give to young people who might just be getting into skateboarding?
The best advice I can give someone about getting into skateboarding is to just hop on and roll. Just enjoy the flow and cruise.

6. What advice can you give fans of yours who want to be more involved in animal rights?
If you have ever cared about a pet or any animal please find time to somehow find a way to help the ones that don’t have homes and are being killed by the thousands daily. Go to PETA and you will learn a lot. I did.

7. What are you working on and what projects do you have coming up that we can check out?
I’m working with my sponsors on putting out new products. I have a new Pro Model on Miramar Longboards that just came out and also a new line of skateboard wheels on Sublime Wheels. Also on the photography side of things, I’m working on a photography book and doing gallery shows. You can see my work on my website and MySpace.

I got involved with peta2 because putting a name behind your actions, being connected to an organization helps get things done. It allowed me to give people a direct place to visit for more information after speaking to me. Peta as a whole has always been very helpful with my activist work which I had a feeling they would be. so basically, i got involved with peta in order to truly be doing the best of my best.

I actually went veg when I was in 5th grade after realizing that I didn’t HAVE to eat animals. I got into peta2 a few years ago, I actually saw the “I’m not a nugget” tee in a 17 magazine and immmediatly went on. I have never been more happy to admit that I once read 17 :)
I met amazing people on here and after a few months, I went vegan.

I did get involved with peta and peta2 because in Norway, the AR scene is there, but is “invisible”. I needed back up and more info. Now I’ve become an AR activist and several of my friends have too. It have also made it easier for me being a vegan.

I began being a vegetarian when I was 14. I didn’t have much support, or any friends who would help me, so I turned to Peat2. I could read about many things that helped me understand how easy it was to be a vegetarian, and what I had to do to be healthy and successful. Now, I am 17 and and still going strong with peat2 and vegetarianism, I even work in a 99% Organic Salon, with all products that have never been tested on animals.

The PETA Organization has always been very dear to me since I’m an avid animal lover. I’m proudly owned by 9 cats and 3 dogs all of which have been rescued from gutters, roofs, middle of traffic or just simply came to my front step for love which they received. I cringe at the thought of anyone hunting for fun and totally oppose it. I strongly support neutering and spaying and I’m proud to drive with a magnet that states it on my car. I believe the same that all PETA Supporters believe, that animals should be treated with respect, love and affection. The same unconditional love and affection they offer us everyday.

I first wanted to get involved with peta2 because I needed to join an organization that honestly cared about animals, and I found Peta2 while on ther web. I researched peta and learned that they were active in helping animals, and I wanted to be a part of their ideas of helping animals!

I decided to join Peta2 for many reasons. The first reason is to make a difference. I try my best at home. It’s just hard at times though. All of my animals are adopted from shelters. When I got my dog Colby I was heart broken. When I got him he had a big purple “H” spray painted on him. Also he had been beaten and looked as if he hadn’t eaten for days. Thankfully i found him. Now he is healthy again. I also got two rats from the animal shelter. The first one I got was very sickly and his teeth were so bad he couldn’t eat amything hard. I didn’t think he was going to live more than a week. Amazingly he lived another year. Sadly he died but, I got my new rat who is happier than ever. I have a feeling that he’ll be around for awhile. I hope that working with Peta2 I can stop or at very least lower the rate of animal abuse so more animals have the chance at living life.

The reason in which i wanted to get involved with peta2 at first was because i saw the sticker “Im not a Nugget”. I ordered the stickers with out knowing what and who peta2 was. It wasn’t until i started receiving information on how they cruely kill the animals that i became a member and have been vegetarian for 2 years now.

Growing up as a kid in the alternative scene,it would always be a game of dodging industries. It wasn’t long enough until my favorite band started working for animal rights and human peace.I always wanted to be vegetarian all my life.As soon as their guitarist Casey Calvert died;it felt the most fitting way to pay respect was to look around me and share his ways of life.I joined PETA 2 for a less extreme but greater form of serving animals with my life. Thanks

To be honest what got me to start caring is the Humane Society commercials with Sarah Mcglaucklin ;D. Then I looked into it on the internet and some of the stories I saw just repulsed me. I realized this was no joke!

because i cant grow up wanting to save critically endangered species from extinction, while putting others in danger of torture, slaughter and abuse. They all deserve respect and a voice, i WILL be that voice.

As a kid, I was and am still curious about the great big world we live in, and I thought nothing of animal abuse. But for some or no completely good reasons, I was getting sicker and weaker. Then one day I heard about PETA while I was on the internet. I got a little curious, and I went veg after finding out meat was one of the reasons I was sicker. Right now, I'm still trying to give up meat for my health. But I'm getting there!
