I wish I could say it’s a snazzy new trend in cruelty-free makeup, but sadly, it’s quite the opposite. In fact, Wonder Dust may be the cruelest kind of “makeup” around.
Ringling Brothers’ “training” consists of beating elephants with steel-tipped bullhooks, sometimes until they’re bloody. Former Ringling employees report that handlers then cover the wounds with a gray powder called “Wonder Dust.” When placed on fresh cuts and punctures, Wonder Dust closely matches the elephant’s own skin color. Just when you thought they couldn’t be more shady, right? I “wonder” how these handlers sleep at night. Really.

Sadly, the elephants suffer from wounds, cuts and punctures whether people see them or not. That’s why it’s up to us, the general public, to stop paying for this to happen. More and more people are boycotting the circus, not to mention the many celebs that are speaking up for animals in the circus.
YOU can help too. Boycott the circus and spread the word! The ellies will appreciate it.

Well let's just say life ain't always beautiful but it's a beautiful ride. I love all my pets and would do anything for them. I have one dog, two cats, a ferret and my babygirl shaymin,(the cutest hedgehog alive) I'm into all different kinds of music. I'm a singer myself and love art.
Father loves to farm, be self sustainable, loves to read, he's a antiques/vintage auctioneer, art student, and looks like mr. Rogers. My mother is a Montessori teacher and is amazing with children, all about local organic foods, loves gardening, cooking etc. my sister who is nine years older than me was into indie music and introduced me to all sorts of things at a young age. This all rubbed of on me and from that base I grew into similar things. I'm an INFJ
I'm tall, a geek, nacho - obsessed, I love sewing and Cath Kidston, also I'm vegetarian (wannabe vegan.)
I love animals about as much as rock, heavy metal, tea, and coffee. Hoping to make a difference and help animals through PETA!!!
I want to get into marketing but not have to rely on people which have different morals and worldviews than I do to hire me. While I'm figuring this out, I want to show everyone what I believe in and spur them into action against injustices.
I am Angela. When I am not helping animals I am listening to music, reading, or playing video games. My spirit animal is a fox and I love nature. What else is there to know? Want to know anything about me, need advice or anything message me :)

You can see how sad the elephants are just by looking at their eyes.. How can those irracional humans ignore this fact? It’s ridiculous.. Elephants and tigers should be free, just like any other animal.. I wish they switched places with the elephants and tigers to see if they’ll also enjoy as much..

Wonder Dust isn’t gray because elephants are gray. It is used on horses and other animals when a wound needs help closing. Horses injure themselves all the time, so they often need products like this. Obviously the treatment of these elephants is abhorrent and the fact that their wounds are intentional is the problem. But Wonder Dust is used in other fields and is not a negative product.

I hate what they do to the elephants, but I wanted to tell you what Wonder Dust is. It is a wonderful old fashioned wound dust that I love and use on my rescue farm animals. I am a Wildlife Rehabilitator and would not use anything on my animals that would hurt them. If an animal gets a wound you puff it on and it repels flies and heals very quickly. Wonderful stuff. I recommended it to a friend who had her donkey gelded and it wouldn’t stop bleeding. Wonder dust stopped it immediately. One of my goats hurt her horn and it stopped the bleeding and healed it in just a few days. Flies are hated by Rehabbers because they lay their eggs on open wounds and the next day you have maggots, and they are terribly hard to get rid of. Wonder Dust repels flies and this doesn’t happen. If we could only stop people from causing wounds on animals……

Just FYI, Wonderdust just happens to be that color and is not designed for elephants. It’s an antibiotic powder that is used on many animals (horses, cows, etc.) to help heal any kind of wounds or cuts. It keeps them clean, sort of like neosporin, but doesn’t attract more dirt. So, at least they are trying to help them not get infections! But, they wouldn’t need it if they weren’t getting beaten.

I wouldn’t care about ringling bros circus if they didn’t hurt the elephants!!! if they stop torchuring them then they can just let the elephants walk around and NOT preform hurtful “tricks” if they stopped being mean!!!! wonder dust is a another disguise to the cruelty Ringling Bro’s IS.

Horrible poor elephants thats why i boycott the circus and dont go to it. I was at the orange county fair in costa mesa and i saw people riding elephants, i felt so terrible for them. The trainers had bullhooks in thier hands and i saw that elephants were very frightened, which made me want to cry. I hope one day these poor elephants will not have to suffer anymore.

I couldn’t agree with you more Alyssa! As a little girl I didn’t know how poorly the elephants were treated, and being an animal-lover, was excited to be able to ride the elephant. Now I feel so badly for them, and try to educate all of my friends with kids to stay away from the circus and these sort of things.

Actually, they shouldn’t! But it shouldn’t be used like this! Wonder Dust is supposed to be used to temporarily stop the bleeding of cuts on animals while they are receiving vet care or are being transported to the vet; it also plays a big part in first aid kits. I have some in my pet first aid kit because it’s important to stop the bleeding while the wound can be wrapped until i can get them to a vet (we live about 1 hour away).
