• 30% of Meat Eaters Won't Date Vegetarians

When it comes to dating, meat eaters are actually pickier than vegetarians. Almost 30% of omnivores wouldn’t go out with a vegetarian or vegan, whereas just 4% of vegetarians wouldn’t date a meat eater, a Today and Match.com poll finds. Of course, it’s not exactly a fair comparison: With only 2% of the US population vegetarian and 3% vegan, they don’t have many meat-free dating options. Meanwhile, 66% of the survey’s 4,000 respondents find picky eating unattractive.

Meat eaters’ opposition to dating vegetarians is no big surprise, experts say. “Mankind’s first luxury was meat, and when carnivores share food—what they are sharing is this luxury. It’s more than just cultural, it’s instinctual,” notes an anthropologist. A meat eater echoes the sentiment: “The ability to provide and share food is part of romance, and I just can’t date a person who does not share those moments of life with me.”

When I met my boyfriend, the only thing I asked of him before we started dating, was that he stop hunting because I just couldn’t be with someone knowing they see it as a sport… A month later, he was a vegetarian. <3.

Who cares? Numbers are numbers, people are not numbers. Date who you want, eat what you want and be happy. Sheesh.

I wouldn’t date a meat-eater, but then again we do not choose who we fall for. Therefore, I do not think that confining your relationship on if they consume animals isn’t really a very wise choice. However, I met my five year boyfriend at a animal rights protest and we’ve been together ever since. :P

I’m dating a meat-eater and he’s absolutely accepting of my lifestyle choices and we even made a vegetarian chili this weekend together and he loved it

This is surprising to me. I think if they actual never more vegetarians/vegans they would change their mind.

Lol. I have dated meat-eaters and it was the worst decision ever! They’re so judgmental and won’t change their ways. I’m glad I found my ideal vegan man :) Lol

They’re just missing out on not dating us vegans! I am by no means a picky eater–I just choose to not eat animal products.

“lolwhat. That’s discrimination towards personal choices! WTH?!”
There are plenty of person choices I would effect whether I want to be with someone. Including things like taste in music.

Wait theres more vegans’ than vegetarians’… I dont think that’s right… Just saying … Anyways my boyfriend is a meat-eater :( and I was vegetarian when we started dating (now I’m vegan). He said he would never go vegetarian, but he stoped eating McDonalds after I explained it to him… So maybe, one day, he will be at least vegetarian :)

I think that meat eaters dont want to date vegetarians is because they dont want to know what they are doing wrong.

Only 30%? Maybe I had less faith in humanity than it deserved.

It’s surprising that only 4% of vegetarians wouldn’t date a meat eater. Then again, they obvi. didn’t ask everyone or the polls would be much more accurate. That task though, would be nearly impossible.

Vegans don’t eat non vegan food, this does NOT mean that meat eaters can’t eat vegan food – thus food can still be shared.

We’re not at a loss though, I mean – I wouldn’t want to date someone who didn’t want to date me. :)

I feel totally different on this, I’ve never had a guy who didn’t even offer to go vegetarian or try it out for me. I just tell them it’s not going to bother me to extremes, & they feel the same.

But then again, as a stats-person, who knows how the data was conducted.
Regardless though, that is sad. What ignorant people there are X(
