  • Advice needed! My hamster has gone stir crazy...

So, my hamster has been acting insane lately. He’s been trying to dig through the bottom of his cage (which is definitely not too small for him), and he leaps out whenever I open the door to feed him, and jumps off the table and runs around until I can catch him. When I do catch him, he squeals a death squeal as if he is being murdered even though I am holding him gently in my cupped hands with no pressure on him. He has a wheel and several toys, and enough food and water, and a chew-stick for his teeth; and he’s a type of hamster that prefers solitary living. I really need advice before he actually hurts himself. Thanks, all!

I heard young hamsters will act crazy once in a while. Remember they are more sensitive than humans are.

    Hey @peaceloveple,

The best thing that you can do is take him to a veterinarian for a checkup as soon as possible. Please keep us updated with how the little guy is doing. :) Thanks!

maybe he was traumatized by something like do you have any other pets that might have scared it? or maybe its just bored sometimes caged animals go crazy you could try moving things around or putting its cage somewhere else just to change things up sorry i dont know a lot about hamsters

hmmm. is there a lot of load noises near him? like a TV, stereo, etc. something that might be stressing him out or scaring him.
I know in my house we had these electronic bug repellers that emitted sound waves that only small animals and bugs could hear. We had to make sure my old hamster was far enough away from it.

That’s just some wannabe vet’s advice so you might want to call a vet in your area for their advice.
