What do you do when you have no support system? I want to become a vegetarian but my family is not going to let that happen so easily. No matter what I tell them they either make fun of me or ignore me all together. Without some support I can’t do this.

    Hey @Casandra2010,

Show your parents why you want to go vegetarian, http://www.meat.org. Once they see it with their own eyes, they’re more like you to support you! Also have them check out the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s Web site (www.pcrm.org) so they can see the facts straight from doctors about how healthy plant-based diets are!

If they’re still unsupportive, stay strong and remember why you’re doing it. Your parents don’t want to see you die, so they’ll accept it. Show them your serious about this by cooking your own meals ( http://www.peta2.com/recipes has good recipes), not eating the meat if they give it to you, and always telling them why you want to do this.

Be sure to always check these boards if you ever need more help! That’s why we’re here.

    Good luck!

    Jose :)

I am working on becoming a vegan and my whole family eats meat everyday. They are more silent about me dropping meat and I am not sure how supportive they are of it. Either way if you believe in what you are doing then stay motivated and have faith in yourself. These boards are helping me a lot with support so just keep at it and I’m sure it will get easier.
