Animals as "Prizes"

I was at a local festival today when I saw that one of the skill-game booths was offering long-tailed lizards as prizes. I explained to the booth worker why animals should not be used as prizes, but my urging fell on deaf ears. I was able to deter many people from playing the game by explaining how much time and money an animal will cost, and that there’s no such thing as a “free” pet.
Could someone please pass on a request for materials for this sort of thing? Even a simple brochure would help. It’s heartbreaking to see these animals go to homes where they will slowly die at the hands of good-intentioned but clueless people.
