I study graphic design and of course use all sorts of media from works online, to works for print, to paintings, pen and ink illustrations etc. I make sure my brushes are synthetic, but have only learned recently that a lot of the media I used is not vegan. :( It started Wednesday in my art history class when my teacher was talking about how tempura in the Renaissance was traditionally made with egg yolk and to this day still may be. After looking into it more I realized all my ink pens contain india ink. All animal-based. Arg! How can I make beautiful designs and pieces with high craft when I am using unethical materials? Help!

Aww man, that would really suck to find out after using them for so long :/
I’m not very knowledgeable (like at all) when it comes to art supplies, but if you’re on facebook you may want to consider joining this group, Vegan Artists:
They may be able to help you out.
I tried finding some sites that offer animal-friendly art supplies, but didn’t really come up with anything :/
Though it would be long term, this may be an opportunity to contact some successful veg*n artists/celebrities to suggest developing a line of vegan art supplies.
