Are traditional animal crackers (those little animal-shaped cookies in the red circus wagon boxes) vegan? Maybe. Depends on if their sugar-maker uses bone char in the process. And what’s in that mystery artifical flavoring?

Better to make your own. Plus who wants to support a company that thinks it’s okay for animals to be in circuses? Not me, not with one shiny penny. Animal circuses suck.
So grab your cookie cutters (you can get sets of them anywhere from Walmart to Williams-Sonoma or individually online) and get to baking. Make big ones, decorate them with the words “Free Me!” and hold a bake sale. Donate the money to peta2, or to your local animal shelter! Bring them some cookies too and they’ll love you forever. 🙂

According to the Rules of the Interwebs, you shouldn’t post someone else’s entire recipe, only part of it with a link to the rest, unless you’ve changed the recipe up bigtime.

No cookie cutters? Just make ’em round and decorate like ladybugs, turtles, coiled up snakes…
Which animal would you cookie-up? I’m going for sprinkled giraffes. 🙂
