“Humans are the only animals capable of ________.” is no longer a valid argument when animals can do so many of the things that we humans can do too.

For example, animals are capable of language and communication, they can be self-aware and they can feel empathy and love.

” but I want to add that all the evolutionary advantages we supposedly have haven’t really gotten us anywhere worth getting, unless you consider pollution and atom bombs and taxes and junk to be worth electricity and schools”
    I mean, i don’t know
atom bombs are quite the accomplishment
    and also
    an accident.

Oh gosh that phrase. I find it dumber and dumber as the world shifts on to veganism. Why? Because we’re all equal.

This is sort of a joke, but give enough monkeys enough typewriters, and the words of Shakespeare will be written. I agree with all the people before me, but I want to add that all the evolutionary advantages we supposedly have haven’t really gotten us anywhere worth getting, unless you consider pollution and atom bombs and taxes and junk to be worth electricity and schools. humans are animals with some good things, and some bad things, and we shouldn’t forget that.

I also think it’s worth noting that animals can do a lot of things we can’t.

By the way, I definitely agree with Vegan Caramel and Dagmar. And I agree that we’re capable of great evil and good, therefore we should fight for equality among all species.

I agree with VeganCaramel. We as humans are capable of both great good and great evil and we should try to fight for equality among all species. After-all, holding humans to a lower standard just because there have been horrible people is still specieist.

I still believe that humans are capable of a great deal – writing classic novels, exploring the cosmos, amazing feats of the mind, building colossal monuments, weaving intricate social networks. I hate to see humanity drudged upon by a few of my fellow animal rights activists who say “humans are terrible!” or “I’m not happy to be a human!”

But the key factors of life and what it means to feel pain, to build intricate social circles, to love and to think, do not only belong to us. We are special – just like any other creature in the animal kingdom.
