It’s better then nothing though. It might not be perfect but I thought at least cage free might give hope for more better things. It shows that someone cares but hopefully cage free are chickens running around to stretch their legs. not just all cooped up together. But who knows I or my mom & dad have not bought eggs in years.

Yeah. I have well not me personally but I also have chickens & two roosters living at my house I am glad they are there then a factory.

Well to tell you the truth I did not buy my chicks from the Co-Op, I bought them from a friend down the road who happens to have an few acres worth of a large chicken coop which she has many different chickens. She has chicks and ducklings she sales but only if she knows you well.
I only buy feed at the Co-Op due to unable to find a better place to get such items.
I understand that chickens are treated badly but I make sure to treat my pets right.

Hey guys,
Thanks for wanting to help chickens! Unfortunately, “Cage-Free” doesn’t mean it’s cruelty-free. Those hens are still kept in cramped and filthy conditions, they just aren’t kept in cages. Once their bodies can’t give eggs anymore, they are still sent to slaughter.

@EnchantedBeginnings, while your chickens are definitely better cared for than factory farmed one’s, the chicks bought for raising at home are bought from the same hatcheries that provide bigger farms. This means that the male chicks are killed right away because they are useless to the egg industry.
The only way to make sure we aren’t contributing to animal suffering is by going vegan (luckily, tofu scrambles are AWESOME).

I happen to have chickens though I do not really use the eggs I collect daily. They are happy and are as free as can be in a safe way. They are in a frenced in area for their own protection due to the rouge dogs, coyotes, foxes, hawks and other such animals which are known to live in the mountain areas of Alabama.
The living space is very larger, digger then my own home is and I make sure they are as safe as can be so are safe and sound. I feed them three times a day and my family who eat a lot of eggs do notice a better taste and difference.
Cage free is the only way I will have my chickens, they are my friends and I could not think of looking at one and thinking of how some are in cages for the rest of their sad lives, being forced to lay eggs and then ending up on someone’s plate them selves.
Inhumane, inhuman and insane.
