    So if you haven’t been hearing a lot about Chick-fil-A lately you probably live under a rock. :P

    It is now known that Chick-fil-A holds a anti-gay stance and donates money to anti-gay organizations. Now I see a bunch of human equality protests starting up at Chick-fil-A’s which is awesome! I’ve seen a few protests joined in by animal rights activists as well too. I know peta2 and other animal rights organizations like Mercy for Animals openly support LGBT rights, there probably isn’t an animal rights organization that doesn’t as that doesn’t make sense. I know I myself would be proud to protest against Chick-fil-A for both human equality and animal rights!

    So this is basically just a post to try and help get the ball rolling. As now is a great opportunity to protest against a company that is against both human equality and animal rights.

    I see that PETA is having a a protest against Chick-fil-A in Los Angeles on August 1st

    Hah. If you knew me you would know that I am not scared of “gays” or predjudice in anyway. I just decided to type what I wanna type and none of yall can do anything about it. I saw this topic & decided to type my thoughts.. I really don’t care either way how this goes I am just saying & will keep saying that this is a waste of time! You can keep doing it but I will type & do,& say what I please. It really doesn’t matter what you think I am because I know what I stand for with animals & I want the best for them, & people from PETA give themselves a bad name from the things they do I am not involved in that at all people don’t even know me so how could I even put a dent in PETA. Just doing what your doing typing about what I know accept you don’t bother me at all sweetie.

    @NicoleLynne

    You are starting to annoy me and not just with your christian homophobic nonsense but you don’t even know what you are talking about when it comes to animal rights. All you seem to care about is dogs, cats and a little bit about the treatment of animals before they are killed. If you didn’t know that is called animal welfare not animal rights so please go and join some animal welfare community instead and stop giving the rest of us a bad name.

    Also I am really trying to watch what I say as I don’t want to get in trouble myself. I can deal with trolls and I can deal with people who are curious or even people who are taking steps in the direction of animal rights. I can not deal with people who claim they are animal rights activists when they are not and do nothing but give the rest of us a bad name.

    @NicoleLynne, Please keep in mind that Peta2 is a sanctuary for many people. We come here to be with like-minded individuals and encourage each other on the road to saving lives. You are entitled to your opinion, as is everyone else, but please save your dogma and prejudice for someplace else. Let’s keep this a welcoming place for everyone, okay?

    Boyscouts is doing the same thing as Chick-Fil-A and PETA wrote something about them. They are just speaking out on what they believe in so I am too. Just because animal rights are supporting “gays” does not mean that, that will help animals at all. & for some reason I’ve seen a lot of “gays” think animals are disgusting they stink & want nothing to do with them but yet they eat it. I know some people who claim that they are “gay” might be the sweetest person but to hate people for what they believe just b.c they don’t believe in being “gay” I think is wrong. I am not exactly a “christian”. & thats just what you know about that situation. . . I believe in God yes, & it says that said Laying with another man as you would a woman is an abomination. So if someone is “gay” God did not make them like that, they make their own choices they choose to want to be with the same sex. It just feels too focosed on “gays” when the real focos should be saving cats and dogs that are trapped in cages getting ready to be skinned alive. In the end :gays” will be okay they will never be treated like African Americans did back when race was a big problem. Being gay does not make you your own race but it sure is acting like it is. We need to focos on real issues not gays because you will see it will get you no where. Oh && not all of people that are for animal rights think eating meat is wrong . I’ve read post on here where they say that they don’t think it’s wrong to eat meat… Eating is not a math ? there is no right or wrong answer.

    @Brosia, well, the people going to KFC would probably have gone to another fast-food place instead, such as Chick-Fil-A, so at least in this case, nothing is lost and a little is gained. (Obviously, it would be better if they boycotted fast-food in general, but they are making a stand, so give them some credit)

    While I’m thrilled that there has been such an uprising against Chick-fil-A, I do worry about the consequences for animal rights. I’ve seen may boycotts that involve frequenting KFC more to show that you will buy from a company that supports equal rights. I almost feel like more animals will be suffering at my (as a lesbian) expense.

    Yes, PETA supports gay rights. Often people who have opened their hearts and have compassion for animals, also have compassion for humans (we’re animals too, B-T dubs) and are not racist, sexist, speciesist, religionist.. etc., or homophobic bigots like Chik-fil-A. Can you tell I’m not too fond of them? It is one thing to voice an opinion – but Chik-fil-A has made several anti-gay donations.

    We support what is ethical. Hints the “ethical” treatment of animals. Peta2 has posted one blog pertaining to the boy scouts in support of gay rights. They haven’t launched an entire gay rights campaign. PETA isn’t trying help animals by supporting gay rights. We’re just letting it be known that the LGBT community has our support, like many other big companies (Oreos, for example) have done. One could argue that PETA will gain more LGBT members by supporting gay rights, and while that may be true – I don’t think those are PETA’s tactics.

    “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

    If our voices get our there and our information gets out there “for 5 minutes” in big news, that’s AWESOME! Do you know how many people will see it and actually take it in? Even if only one, that will make a world of difference in the lives of several animals. It’s all about spreading the word, raising awareness.

    @NicoleLynne, if you don’t believe that eating meat is wrong – perhaps you haven’t seen this:
    http://www.chooseveg.com/meet-your-meat.asp

    A life is a life. “There’s no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. They’re all animals.” – Ingrid E. Newkirk

    Animals may not have the capabilities of humans – but I could argue that some (most, even) humans can not become a doctor, either. They can not drive a car. Some can not even walk. Does that make them lesser than us or less valuable? No it does not.

    There are tons of stories like these: http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/animals/photos/10-remarkable-animals-that-have-saved-lives/mans-best-friend

    Animals can save lives as well as humans can. Perhaps only a limited amount of animals do save lives, just as only a limited amount of humans save lives.

    Maybe you should give this website a looksie and see if you find yourself opening your eyes more to animal cruelty: http://www.carnism.com/carnism.htm

    I hope some of this information may have helped you! :)

    Moving on..

    I agree @FAR, and I think it would be great if peta2 launched a campaign against them as well.

    @NicoleLynne Um, we aren’t trying to make humans and animals equal(No animal admittance to medical school, sorry), we are trying to provide them with decent, comfortable lives, and since we are technically promoting that for everybody, LGBT people are part of our case. If we still put people in the space that we are trying to skip for animals, something is seriously wrong with us. Don’t you have any desire for progress? I mean, if you can’t support your own species are you even qualified to be supporting other species? Also, if PETA protests Chick-Fil-A for discrimination against LGBT people we are even furthering your narrow-minded cause by opening more reasons, and drawing attention to the need, to boycott Chick-Fil-A and getting more people on our “side”. Also, as FAR said, both groups are for the advancement of equal rights, so that sort of attaches us to them in this figurative battle. You don’t have to be involved, but, please, don’t make the rest of us look like narrow-minded homophobic hypocrites. (Not that I’m pointing ANY fingers…) Thank you and have a nice day.

    No one said anything about the boyscouts, yes I understand they are anti-gay but PETA isn’t protesting against them. Why are you even part of an animal rights community if you think eating meat is fine? In the United States 95%+ of all our meat comes from factory farms and like 99%+ are killed in the same slaughterhouses. Wow, I thought cows would one day become doctors thank you for enlightening me.

    I never said humans and animals would be equal I said to be treated more like us. To be treated with respect etc. If all humans aren’t being treated equal animal rights has no chance of succeeding. I know all of your anti-gay beliefs are coming from your Christian beliefs but guess what Christians are generally also against animal rights and veg*nism as well.

    It might be on the news for 5 minutes but not too long with other worldwide things happening like the guy who shot up the movie theater. I was just wondering I didn’t know if Chick-fil-A was affiliated with what Mcd’s did. I don’t see how eating meat is wrong, thats my opinion. I think how animals are treated before they die is wrong but other then that I don’t see eating meat as wrong. Standing up for gays will never make humans & animals equal & that is probably the only reason why animal rights would get involved so I guess I could see why they are going out agianst the boyscouts but nothing will change for them animal wise just because they are speaking out b.c the boyscouts & Chick-Fil-A are speaking out in what they believe in too. I think one o f the main and simple reason animals will never be equal to humans is because a human can become a doctor and save lives and they can also save animal lives.. but a cow can never become a doctor and save someone’s life.. so that right there seperates an animal from a human a whole lot. A hyprocrite no no, I never said they shouldn’t I said I don’t understand what it has to do with animals… Heter, Homo still eat meat, hurt and abuse animals so I wouldn’t pick anyone’s side I’d be neutral.

    @NicoleLynne
    It has been pretty big news on all of the news stations on TV all over the internet etc.

    I actually find it pretty shocking that someone for animal rights is against human equality. How do you expect humans to treat animals more like us if we don’t even treat each other with the same respect? Yes, Chick-fil-A’s meat comes from the same places that McDonalds and KFC’s does. All fast food chains meat and most of the meat people consume come from the same types of factory farms. It shouldn’t even matter where the meat comes from as any animal rights activist will tell you eating any sort of meat is wrong.

    You are also quite hypocritical. You say PETA shouldn’t help support LGBT rights (and animal rights at the same time) but you think it is good that Chick-fil-A is supporting anti-gay organizations (when that has nothing to do with fast food).

    I’ve read about it on Yahoo News. But if I never clicked on yahoo that day I would have never saw it and never known about it, but it wouldn’t really matter anyway you act like it some high priority news so I’m guessing a lot of more people do not know about this &/or do not care. I think it’s just fine what there doing in my opinon. They are standing up for what they believe in, just like “gays” stand up for what they believe in. Does Chick-fil-A’s chicken or other flesh they use been tortured like Mcd’s? & as far as the boyscouts standing up for what they believe I don’t understand why PETA is getting into that when that has nothing to do with saving animals.. I guess it’s just about picking and choosing what you want to fight for.

    Life summary : I love animals even more than people

  • jpatr1d

    I have always loved animals, no matter what shape,size, color, species they are. I started as a vegetarian a few years ago, but i only knew that i didn't want to eat animal. i stoped for a while when i lost my job and ate what i could. no excuse i know. but soon later to realized my mission in life and purpose. i am here to be the voice of those who do not speak human. i changed my outlook to this because i found a boxer mix dog laying under my porch. she had gotten hit by a car and was severely starved. everyone around me was like leave it alone, you don't know where it came from, but i didn't care i had to save her. i rushed her to the emergency vet clinic where they did immediate surgery on her. despite those peoples commentary i saved a dogs life and from that point on i knew that if people treated a dog that way i wonder how people treat non domestic animals. I researched and came across peta2 where i now am an animal activist and vegan. I continue to help and save animals that i find and plan on never changing my ways for any one.
