Classic arguments fellow Christians give me:
    1. Animals don’t have souls
2.The bible says we have domain over animals..
How do i respond to this?
Does any else have any other Christians arguments to share?

ohhh also, you could talk about how Adam & Eve were vegetarians and how the BIble says our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit and we should treat them with respect. And when God did give permission to eat meat after the flood, He only gave permission for certain meats (you could say that to at least get them to think about not eating certain meats like pork)

Well, you could explain that the Bible says before the flood God didn’t allow eating meats. After the flood He allowed certain animals to be used for food because there were no other sources of food at the time. (you can find that in Leviticus). Seventh-day Adventist Christians actually promote a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. :)

Not Christian in the least anymore, but when I was, I went to a youth group at school every Thursday, and they youth pastor found out I was vegetarian. And he said, “The Bible says that God put animals here for us.” I think it goes against Christian doctrine to eat meat. People tend to take what everyone says about the Bible without reading the book themselves, and that leads to a lot of problems. So yes, we do have domain over animals since we have a more developed brain. But we also have domain over small children for the same reason, but since we’re of the same species, people don’t want to hear that argument. If you wouldn’t do it to a child, why would you do it to an animal that you also have domain over? That’s always been how I looked at it. The youth pastor got angry that I had the gall to compare a human child to a cow, but we all come from the same origins of proteins swimming around in prehistoric waters, and we’re all animals. Some just tend to have more developed brains than others, and should use that knowledge for creating a better world for ALL of the beings sharing the planet.

    1. Does that make it okay to treat them with or support cruelty?

You tell them 1. You don’t have a soul animals do
    2. The bible is based on your idiotic brain

Lol Im just playing. I am christian somewhat well more agnostic but yea. I was raised catholic and a lot of churches are changing their minds about those things and only the old fashion hardcore people are saying that. Eventually they will be gone those are rare to find I guess though.

“the question is not can they think, or can they speak, but can they suffer?” Peter Singer. My dad said that if anyone gives me any crap, just say that Jesus would LOVE to work at a factory farm sarcastically. Not classy, but it works.

I used to be Christian, and me and my brother got lots of crap for being vegetarian too, but there is no proof that any god exist and hates animals. However there is proof that animals are capable of emotions, especially pain. You can believe completely in your religion, but it is okay to go against what people of your fellow religion or faith say. Humans are technically animals too, and the Christian god loves us, so he must love all animals too :D .

I think the “evidence” God is here & real is just looking at the beautiful animals he created, science or evolution could not have made something so beautiful.. & plus you got to have FAITH.

You could say that while there is no concrete evidence that there is a God there is solid evidence that animals share all the same emotions that we do…because we are animals too. Also, you could say that modern Christianity is a perversion of its original intent. Now most people use bible verses to make excuses. They only quote the ones with the most generic meaning and they twist and contort the rest to promote their own beliefs. Not all Christians…but most.

I don’t know, I’m a devoted Christian and really don’t think we were made to eat meat.

“A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”
    — Proverbs 12:10

The meat and dairy industries are full of cruelty.

Unnecessary killing is murder. The bible is against this.

Before sin entered the world, they did not eat meat. That is why an “Eden diet” consists of no meat. Assuming there is no sin in “heaven” there would be not meat there also.

    Hope this helps!

@Far, that is just horrible! Everyone has the right to religion, or in your case, freedom from religion. You should be able to speak about you disbelieving in a deity, as freely as those who preach for it.

I am not a christian at all, but I do respect your right to believe in your religion! I’ve read the bible, and nowhere does it say such horrible things (as I’m sure you know). Just tell them that if God wanted us to kill and consume animals, than why did He make them with emotions such as pain, fear, and love. It would seem that beings without souls would not be able to show love like animals do. Good luck!
