When I first went vegetarian in 2002 I had small cravings for chicken, but by research and abstaining from eating the birds those quickly went away. When I went vegan I found it very easy to stay away from dairy, as the stuff just makes me feel sick, even when I look at it. My cravings for sweets is now the main one (I crave vegan cookies, chocolates, etc), but I find that eating sweet foods like fruits, sweet potatoes, and drinking almond milk (and every now and then a healthy fruit-only soda) keep my cravings down. I also think about my health, which is something I work hard to maintain. Daily exercise seems to make me crave healthier foods as well. I do allow myself a sweet treat or two every week, though. Also, drinking water has been said to help keep cravings down when they show up.
