If you go to Joanne’s or Michael’s (or any other fabric store really) all the materials you buy will have a tag or list saying everything the fabric was made of. Because you’re going off raw materials, it’s really easy to be cruelty free! Just stay away from leather, wool, ect.

Just avoid feathers, wool, silk, and leather. Use cotton, satin, acrylic, etc. Good luck!

Hey fellow cosplayers. I’m starting my next cosplay here which will require me actually sewing and all that great stuff, which means I need to buy some fabric. I’m going to be Kanaya Maryam from Homestuck – I’m just making a long red skirt. Are there any stores or brands I should be wary of? It seems like a silly question but I’m just double checking in case.
