I have wanted chickens for forever! I just found a chicken coop big enough for 15 chickens that I have enough money for, and I only want like 6. I have done soo much research and know how to taker care of them, I was just wondering your opinion on eating their eggs. I don’t eat eggs because of the cruelty, and I don’t have a problem with eating eggs they lay naturally in a nice coop..they are also going to be freeranged if that matters..

This question is asked often. Here’s a copy/paste for you.

    Hen Periods (Eggs)
I would never have a hen around just so that I could eat her eggs.
I can imagine a situation in which I might be caring for a rescued hen who needed a home, or a wild hen who decided to hang out on my property.
If those hens were to leave unfertilized eggs laying around, there would be no harm in eating them.
It would be disgusting and unhealthy but not morally/ethically wrong.

I think that it depends on YOUR opinion, not ours. Some people believe that eating eggs is wrong because it isn’t our place to take a chicken’s eggs away from them. People also don’t believe in eating eggs because they are, technically, “chicken periods.” But on the other hand, if you do personally believe in eating eggs then that is justified because you are treating the chickens with humane care.

I dont see any problem with eating them. Eggs, unlike dairy and meat, is actually nutritious ( besides the chlorestrol), plus the chickens are not harmed. Just make sure that people are aware of why you eat these eggs and not other eggs….. Good luck! Or you feed it back to them :)

Feeding them back to the chickens is very beneficial to them.
