Hi everyone :) I just wanted to share my story with you guys and hear yours. About 2 years ago I got an email from peta telling me about the horrifying things people do to get fur. I stayed up for hours watching and reading about the things I’d been blind to for so many years. I went Vegetarian and I tried to get my family to do it with me but my dad is from the south and very big on eating meat. So i tried my best to eat the family meal and pick out the meat but after a few months I got dreadfully thin and had frequent migraines due to loss of protein. So I had to quit and I’d been eating meat for about a year and I slowly quit staying on top of what was going on with animals in the world. Well earlier this week my teacher showed us a video in class about how animals are killed for food and at first I was like”I’m ok, I’ve seen this stuff before I can handle it.” but god was I wrong. Within the first 5 minutes I was in tears and I had to leave the classroom. My teacher came out and asked if I was ok, and I swore that I wouldn’t eat meat, drink milk, or eat anything but free range eggs ever again. No being on earth should have to endure that kind of pain, especially innocent animals. I’d rather starve then support that kind of behavior. So whats you story? I would love to hear it :) Comment below and tell me :D Thanks everyone :) Peace <3

Glad to see you’re coming around, but free-range eggs still exploit chickens. But the good news is you don’t have to eat them. You can make tasty tofu scramble and bake with egg-replacers and flaxseed. Also, try Vegg.

My story is simple– one day I suddenly began to think about my food and how it came to my plate. When I thought about it enough I just didn’t want to eat it anymore. Then I learned about factory farming and all, and I was shocked. I just want to mention something to @wendyportlynne about cage free eggs. Don’t get me wrong I am so proud of you for loving and speaking up for animals, you’re really making a difference :) But I just wanted to let you know that cage free farms are cruel as well. The label is deceiving. Please read this article about cage free hens in the egg industry: http://gentleworld.org/cage-free-not-free-enough/

Hey Wendy! I am so proud that you opened your eyes to what truly is going on for just “a meal”. There are so many other protein alternatives that could help you out. I can help you out if you ever need anything :) I work with the peta2 Youth Advisory Board. And I have quite much experience in vegetarianism/veganism. I left red meat when I was 12 after hearing the cries of a pig coming from a slaughterhouse. But my parents wouldnt let me give up poultry. One day it clicked that nobody could tell me how to eat so I left white meat when I was 15. My mother made me write an essay of how I was going to be healthy while being a vegetarian, the benefits and all that good stuff. Haha. After she read it she understood :) But 10 months (I was 19 going on 20) I went vegan after finding out the nasty stuff in milk. So that’s my story! You can add me on facebook for questions or just to be friends :D facebook.com/suzeiiliu

What was your diet like after you dropped meat from your diet?
It’s extremely unlikely that a person in a developed country will become protein deficient as a result of dropping meat from their diet.
Even vegans, who drop all animal products from their diet (meat, dairy, eggs, etc.), will never encounter protein deficiency unless they are terribly ignorant when it comes to nutrition and their diet consists of nothing but junk food (which would be a nutritional education issue rather than a vegan diet issue).

Hey ! Congrats for getting back up and continuing with animal rights :D My journey is fairly simple. I went vegetarian when I was 10 after I watched a Simpsons episode called ‘Lisa the vegetarian’. I’d always loved animals so that choice just made sense to me. I did a lot of research after that and educated myself about animal rights and everything. Then, about 3 years later, I was siting there watching another Simpsons episode called ‘Mayored to the mob’ and I got really grossed out by a rat milk scene, and that’s when it finally dawned on me. I felt I couldn’t continue to live by double standards by supporting the egg and dairy industry and fight for animal rights. I went vegan and never looked back :)

Hiya! :3 My story is not very interesting, but here it is….
I tried to be a vegetarian when I was younger, so being younger, I didn’t research! So, I became hungry from not knowing what to eat and eventually caved in….. Then in May of last year, it hit me! “I eat animals, yet I claim I love them?!? I’m a lair and a hypocrite!” So I watched a video (Farm to fridge) and found myself in tears! I knew I had to change, but how? So I did research; where to get protein, iron, etc. and I’m like, “Wow! This is easier than what I thought!” I became a lacto ovo vegetarian (eats eggs and dairy) on May thirteenth, then I got grossed out by eggs, and later became a vegan on September Twenty-first. (:
Best of wishes with your vegetarianism, and if you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask me! :D -Bri
