3 to 4 million cats and dogs are put down each year, mainly because their shelters are over-capacity. This is such a heartbreaking statistic, and as much as I would love to adopt all of those animals searching for homes, I simply don’t have the resources to do so.
But there are still ways to help, even if adoption isn’t a possibility. Pet Pardons is an amazing Facebook app that lets you rescue real pets from death row. You can see animals in different states and their approximate euthanization date. You can advocate for an animal, and if the animal gets enough advocates, it will be pardoned, meaning that they have a second chance at finding a furever home! You can even receive notifications when an animal is saved.
I recommend that all of you animal lovers install the Facebook app – it’s free! I also highly recommend this app for anyone who is considering adopting a shelter animal – you’ll save an animal from a kill shelter and have a new best friend!

    Hey all,

Please remember that there’s no such thing as a kill shelter. There are only open-admission shelters—those that provide refuge to every animal and must euthanize to ensure that their doors remain open to more needy animals—and limited-admission shelters—those that pick and choose only the cutest, youngest, and most adoptable animals and turn away everyone else. :( You can read more about it here: http://www.peta2.com/blog/could-we-please-stop-the-name-calling/.

E-mail us at peta2@peta2.com if you have any questions. :)
