i always loved going to Zoos, and i still do.
The Zoo that i go to, is actually well kept. My uncle is a restaurant manager there, but also goes around to help the animals. The animals are actually kept very well, and theres always someone walking around checking on the animals. Yeah, the enclosures aren’t as big as where the animals live in the wild, but thats because of human destruction. My zoo also breeds the animals and has expeditions and sends the animals back into the wild, or on reserves.
I get if you hate zoos, but i think their more like big places for the animals as a temporary home till we can get their habitats revived.

It all depends on the zoo~
If they take donations, and work for endangered animals, and they treat their animals CORRECTLY, then they are fine!

Zoos are awful.

For me I think different. I think there are some that do some good.

Two years ago (wow was it really that long ago?) my friend and I went to visit colleges, while we were driving back we passed a town that had a zoo which held one of the ocean mammals that my friend worked with his internship. I told him I’d wait in the car and read my book because I wasn’t going to pay for the entrance fee because I didn’t want to contribute. He ended up paying for me because he somehow convinced me. I have to say the otter seemed healthy and happy (she wasn’t allowed back into the wild due to some life alternating injury) but that was last time I ever went to the zoo and it will always be the last time.

I actually thought zoos were good up until recently- I’ve been to the Calgary Zoo only, which is well-maintained. I figured that, yes, the animals would probably be kinda stressed from the visitors, but the money they provided would help breed them. Since that’s at least partially true (to some zoos at least), I don’t think they belong in the black pits of hell- but there are better arrangements, ones that do not hurt the psyches of the animals, like reserves. I’ve since pledged to not go to any zoos, not even well-maintained ones.

Also, that same zoo was going to have a ray exhibit where zoo patrons would be able to feed and touch rays, but some idiot poisoned the water during the “testing,” killing all but two of them. It was a plan destined to fail, but it still baffles me how people can do stuff like that. I can only hope it was unintentional.

The first time i vent to the zoo, i hate how they treat animals, especially kangaroos

The first time I went to the zoo I wasn’t really that young like I had to be 12 or something… maybe older. I just remember being excited to see the seals , because that’s my favorite animal. However, when going around I noticed animals in odd cages like the monkeys and the exhibits were small and I knew that it was wrong. The lions were in such an odd “den” (at the LA ZOO) all the spaces were too small and the seals were just swimming and being lazy. Although cute… it made me sad that they had no where really to go. They just swam in circles..
I didn’t really know that they were abused or what not.. but I knew that this containment was wrong…

The first time i went to the zoo i wasnt even in JK (junior kindergarden). I lauged and loved it. (Again, i was like 4). That was with my grandmother. However after, my dad was mad. Real mad. He made sure i never went to the zoo again. Then, in grade 6, my grade went on a feild trip to the zoo :/. My mom signed all the forms so i had 2 go. However, when i got there, I almost burst into tears!!! And this was before I new about the abuse. Ive never been to the zoo since. Anyone else have a simaler story.
