    I got into a quite heated discusion about veganism the other day with my sister. She believes that humans are on top of the food chain. I believe that this is ridiculious. Honestly, sure maybe we are the most intelligent, but animals are very intelligent. And really now try standing up to an angry, hungry tiger without your guns hm. I aplogize for my ranting. But these things, this close mindedness gets me a bit worked up.

    Take a couple of minutes to learn what a food chain is, and please don’t let people sidetrack you with arguments about things that don’t matter.

    Humans are because they have the smarts, like a gun you can kill the biggest animal on this earth with the right kind of gun & humans are always using different animals as lunch, but that doesn’t mean that animals can not kill a human and eat them up, obviously, it’s happened I’m sure. But if your veg. you can think of yourself side by side all the animals like the bunnies, they eat like we do ! lol.

    You should talk to your sister about how many humans die when attacked by an animal, and how many of those humans have never killed an animal in their life (be it even a bird, squirrel).. unless if you count paying someone else to kill the animal for them.

    There’s a reason that people fear sharks, bears, tigers, snakes, crocodiles, and so on.. it’s certainly not because we’re superior, or at the “top” of the food chain. If we were really at the top of this so called food chain, we’d be able to take these animals on without any weaponry – and kill them before they killed us or consumed us.

    @Dutchy126 How about mosquitos? They kill over 2 million people a year.

    @Dutchy126 Okay, I see where you are coming from now.

    @Dutchy What about diseases caused by bacteria, protists, and fungi? They feed on us. Parasites feed on us too.

    There is no single food chain. There are thousands of food chains throughout the world. Virtually all humans are not part of any food chain as their technology has separated them from the natural world. There are however still some primitive natives who are part of actual food chains and in those food chains there are large animals & insects that feed on them, so, even those humans cannot claim to be at the ‘top’ of the chains they’re in (if there is even a top to be claimed).

    @LittleLotte said it best though.
    Even if there were a single food chain and we were at the ‘top’ of it, that would mean absolutely nothing.

    Thank you! Thinking that we’re above every other creature just because things come more easily is so close minded.

    As @Styna said, humans are no longer part of the food chain as we have our food provided for us.

    And would it matter if we were at the top? We have the intelligence and resources to show compassion for those ‘below’ us on the chain.

    Decomposers are at the top of the food chain because in the end they break down all dead organisms including the top carnivores. Circle of life. Your sister is wrong.

    Most humans no longer understand how to even be a part of the food chain.
    They buy everything at supermarkets, and if they were forced to scavenge and hunt for themselves, the majority would starve to death.
