Being a former FFA member I can assure you they can not force you into this Nor dock your grade for it. I did a demo on the Butchering of a rabbit it was a option for students to participate and watch or sit out, One girl who was like you put in animal science becuse it was the only class open opted out. She was not Docked in her grade nor Bertated for missing the demo She just sat in the class room and did some sheet work. you need to talk to your AG advisor (your teacher) I bet you anything if you spoke to them and explained your Feelings about this and how you do not want to witness it they would give you some other work to do Probly book work.

What you’re saying is that your grade is more important than a chicken’s life.
Fight it. Go to your principle, bring this up with your school board.

I still can’t even imagine that there are places where classes involve killing. I’m guessing this is the United States, huh? Disgusting.

Go to the principle. Like chenlI said, they can’t force you to do something that goes against your beliefs. They should have told you at the very begining of the semester, so you could have switched out easily. good luck :’(

You cannot be forced to do something against your will. Explain to the teacher that you are against dissection and killing animals and that you will readily do a work sheet or computer task that teaches you what you need to know without being hands on killing the poor thing. RIP chicken.

Okay, so at the beginning of the school year my mom wanted me to the an animal Science class. So, that was alright, up until a month ago. A month ago we were talking about chickens, so to show us whatever, we were raising chickens in the greenhouse. That wasn’t too bad, up until two weeks ago, the teacher told us that we are raising them to feed to the seniors in FFA. That still wasn’t horrible, I can’t chose what other people eat. Granted I was pretty upset that I raised two of them. Then a week ago an oh s**t moment happened, not only did we raise them to eat, we are going slaughter them. We HAVE to! Either that or we FAILED the class! So today, he showed us what we are doing, I wanted to puke. He cut off the head of the chicken right in front of us, and gutted the poor chicken. We are supposed to do it ourselves on Thursday. I’m freaking out, what should I do?! I’m switching out at semester, but I need to keep my GPA up. Please please please help!
