Recently I went to Arkansas with my family to visit my cousins. I had to leave my dog because she is a large dog and shouldnt have to live in the big city (atlanta). it was best for her to stay in the country with plenty room to run. thou i was extremely sad i knew it was best for her (my dad had it planed without telling me -_-).My aunt had a small dioxin that was bullied by their other dog and 7 year old kid and was extremely scared of every thing (I MEAN EVERYTHING). so i got to bring him home because it was best for him. but he isn’t used to city life. he gets freaked out by sirens (you hear them a lot, even thou i live in a nice place), hates his collar (you have to keep it on your dog), and doesn’t know how to walk on a leash.
he’s 1.5 years old and has been nurtured. Any advice?

    Hey @hannahiloveyou,

Thanks for wanting to take good care of your dog and for making sure he doesn’t get bullied anymore.

Just make sure that when you’re leaving on trips with your family that you’re leaving your dog in someone’s care so that they are getting walked, fed, and cared for properly while you’re gone.

If you’re dog doesn’t like his collar you might want to find one for him that is more comfortable. When he’s indoors with me, we leave my dog’s collar off.

Here’s some different pages with advice on caring for dogs: http://www.peta.org/living/companion-animals/dogs.aspx

    Training your dog: http://www.peta.org/living/companion-animals/dog-training.aspx

    Walking your dog: http://www.peta2.com/blog/pet-peeves-whose-walk-anyway/

Hope these help. If you have any other questions or concerns, be sure to e-mail us at peta2@peta2.com. Thanks!

Life summary : I love animals even more than people

  • jpatr1d

I have always loved animals, no matter what shape, size, color, species they are. I started as a vegetarian a few years ago, but i only knew that i didn't want to eat animal. i stoped for a while when i lost my job and ate what i could. no excuse i know. but soon later to realized my mission in life and purpose. i am here to be the voice of those who do not speak human. i changed my outlook to this because i found a boxer mix dog laying under my porch. she had gotten hit by a car and was severely starved. everyone around me was like leave it alone, you don't know where it came from, but i didn't care i had to save her. i rushed her to the emergency vet clinic where they did immediate surgery on her. despite those peoples commentary i saved a dogs life and from that point on i knew that if people treated a dog that way i wonder how people treat non domestic animals. I researched and came across peta2 where i now am an animal activist and vegan. I continue to help and save animals that i find and plan on never changing my ways for any one.
