ive wanted to be a vegatarian for years but the problem was my parents always ate meat i tried getting them to get other foods but they refused it was either i eat meat or eat nothing

but now im on foodstamps i have a disability so i cant work but am still having trouble geting approved for it so i can only buy food with that

what im wondering is can i buy vegatarian meat (not sure what u call it) on foodstamps?

and where do i find this at like what stores can you buy it and how much does it usually cost?

ive always loved fruits and veggies so i wont have any problems with that but i do sometimes crave meat but i feel so bad when i eat it so id like to try the vegatarian meats

is there any good sites about how to become a vegatarian what to eat, where to buy it, etc.

we mainly shop at kroger and food lion though

if you can tell me how much and where to get them and what i should get id love that

this site has really helped me want to be a vegatarion im so glad i joined

I shop at Kroger! Mainly because I don’t have any health food stores near me. At my Kroger, the veggie meats are kept in the produce section and freezers so you could try checking there.

Here’s a little guide to give you ideas of some “accidentally” vegan things you can pick up at the grocery store: http://www.peta2.com/lifestyle/guide-to-vegan-grocery-shopping/

You can find tips for talking to your parents here: http://www.peta2.com/lifestyle/talking-parents-going-vegan/

    Best of luck! :)

There are somethings that are even cheaper, and less processed. I like to add texturized vegetable protein to marinara sauce and beans and rice, among other things, and it simulates the texture of meat! Also, tofu is very flexible in meat recipes. :)

Well, you can always show them the HEALTH reasons of being vegan.
You know…cancer… actually caused by meat…

OH! And the best meat lover’s veggie food is Tofurky. It tastes way too much like meat!

Yes you can buy vegetarian meats on foodstamps, they are called morning star I believe that food lion has them but they are expensive there and Wal-Mart always has them cheaper and target has sales on them a lot. The morning stars actually taste very good people look at them and think that they will taste nasty but they don’t I eat them all the time to me they taste the same. Price wise I believe they go up to like 4 dollars depending on what you get but I’m not really sure on the price. My whole family eats meat as well I’m the only one who doesn’t but even as a little child I’ve always hated meat so I don’t have the problem of missing it.
