eating around other people. As a vegetarian, I’m obviously very picky about what I eat. I’m so tired of people saying well why don’t you just pick the meat off of that pizza? I refuse to eat anything that has touched meat or been cooked with meat! None of my friends understand that, and it gets so irritating when they make fun of me for it.

But what about products that are made on the same facility as (insert nonveg food). I mean, at restaurants especially, that’s hard to avoid.
But yeah, don’t give into that pizza thing; that’s okay to be picky about.

If someone received food with a fly do they pick it out and eat their food? No! So why should you pick out any dead being from your food? It’s nasty and all the lard and other bits have contaminated it.

Not eating meat isn’t about being picky – I know a few too many “picky” vegetarians. There’s so much animal free food that tastes delicious. Don’t be picky, be compassionate!

Also, why would you pick off the meat on the pizza… and not the cheese as well? Because they are equally as cruel! http://www.chooseveg.com/dairy.asp

I don’t feel uncomfortable eating around others when the stuff I’ve made looks, tastes, smells better than the other people’s food. Have alternatives ready for you when meat pizza rolls around. The best thing is to make most of your meals so it lessens contact with meat or lazy food service workers.

Like Lotte said, if your friends won’t stop ribbing you about your preferrences, get some who are more like you. Don’t make it too big of a deal or it’ll become a game to those who like seeing people get angry.

Firstly, never describe yourself as a ‘picky eater’, you’re a ‘compassionate eater’ because of the choices you make, not picky 😉

Secondly, tell you friends how you feel about them making fun of you. If they don’t stop then find better friends!!

But I do understand, I sometimes feel uncomfortable eating around others but for various reasons.
