    Does anyone else use this??
I found it like the second day I had the new phone and I use it almost EVERY time I go grocery shopping now. It’s freakin awesome.
You type in all your dietary concerns (vegan being one of them)
and you scan the barcode of the food product and it will tell you if there is anything in it you need to be aware of (particularly helpful for all the animal products with names that are hard to memorize)
Obviously not every single product in the grocery store is in the database, but a SURPRISING amount are. I think I’ve come across 3 or 4 things that weren’t, and they were all store brand.
It has helped me find some awesome accidentally vegan foods (big puffy pretzels and spring rolls!) and has helped me avoid some foods I wouldn’t have necessarily know to avoid.
It tells you exactly why the bad ingredients are bad too.

    And also – it’s free. ;)

@hakred yep, it’s in the top left corner. That bar code scanner I haven’t been able to get to work either.
@Styna I wonder if it doesn’t require internet to access the database and that’s why it doesn’t work for me, I’m using my ipod and we no longer have wifi in my house =/

@peppermintcherry it sucks that the scanner isn’t working for you :( I’ve never had a problem with it, so I’m afraid I can’t offer any tips.
I’m definitely going to check out the Animal Free app though :D

@peppermintcherry No way! I’ve had the Animal-Free app on my iPhone for FOREVER and am just now finding out that it has a bar code scanner as well?

I downloaded it and it’s pretty damn cool. My only problem is i can’t get the bar code scanner to work. any tips?

Also, there’s a similar app that i got quite a while back. It’s called Animal Free and has a huge list of animal ingredient, and in that you can sort between sometimes animal sourced, always or just all of them, then it has a separate list of always vegan ingredients and a bar code scanner as well.
