I recently read this article about plants having a nervous system and are able to feel pain. Is it right to not eat animals, but to still be eating plants?

This is a link to the article.

Even if it weren’t right to eat plants, it would still be better to be vegan.

“Raising animals for food is grossly inefficient, because while animals eat large quantities of grain, soybeans, oats, and corn, they only produce comparatively small amounts of meat, dairy products, or eggs in return. This is why more than 70 percent of the grain and cereals that we grow in this country are fed to farmed animals.

It takes up to 13 pounds of grain to produce just 1 pound of meat, and even fish on fish farms must be fed up to 5 pounds of wild-caught fish to produce 1 pound of farmed fish flesh.”

Plants can react to stimuli (like leaning towards sunlight etc) but they don’t have a nervous system and they don’t have nerve endings which are the receptors to pain.

Yes, because what else would we eat? Nature intended for humans to eat a variety of fruits and veggies, not meat though, because you know the health reasons.
