She is a vegetarian but she is not doing all she can and not going against the meat industry. If she won’t tell her parents, I understand her because mine were not at all supportive with me being a vegan but she should still tell them. If she truly stands with vegetarianism then she won’t care what they say.

She is a vegetarian whether she orders meat or not. The point is she doesn’t eat it. Maybe she is ashamed but she should really order meals without meat in it because it seems hypocritical

She’s not a vegetarian if she’s ordering meat dishes at restaurants. She’s supporting the meat industry regardless if she eats it or not

@alliehill
Lol, you’re advice is fine:) … She says she eats after her family gets done eating :p but I doubt she will ever tell her parents, it’s kinda like she’s ashamed of being a vegetarian (I guess you could say?)..

The thought of meat touching my food is sick to me also, maybe someday she will understand . I went grocery shopping with my mom today and she made my day she was going to put meat on my food and remembered so she put it on her purse,, not a big deal but it made me happy
,, my grandpa was okay with me but lately everytime he sees me he harrasses me about it.. I just ignore it,, for me its easy to ignore it but maybe for your friend she cant. Tell her in time it will get better…. I didnt hide it from my family when i was living at home but i ALWAYs made my food,, if she ate at diffrent times it would be a good way to ease into comeing out….????… Sorry im not good at advice

She said she will never tell her parents, because they might yell at her. But I see your point, she isn’t getting the vitamins and stuff she needs… And she orders plates with meat on them cause so her parents won’t get “suspicous” … The thought of meat touching my food is just sick DX !!!

Your friend should tell her parents, they may get her healthier foods.. And ordering a plate with meat, whats up with that?? Going out to eat is sick anyways. The resterants are nasty and you never know how they made your food.. I have a friend who says shes vegatarian but she eats fish and still eats foods that have animal products in it.. Some times i want to scream at her and tell her that shes not what she says she its.. :p

I honestly don’t mind meat touching my veggies, as long as they weren’t cooked together. Like, I’ll eat my friends fries if they got chicken nuggets and use the same ketchup as long as the stuff doesn’t fall apart in it. But it is weird that she actually orders the plates with meat…. As long as she doesn’t eat it, she’s technically a vegetarian but since she bought it she isn’t an animal rights activist at all.

Yeah, she qualifies as a vegetarian according to the current commonly accepted definition.
She can technically be a vegetarian even if she doesn’t care about the pain or suffering of animals at all.
If you would like her to care more about the animals being tortured in labs, try to get her to watch a documentary or two that contains undercover footage of animal “testing”.
You can help her make the connection.

Hey @melscrazaee!
Some people have to ease into being a vegetarian. When I first started I could just push the meat aside if my mom forgot to cook me something seperate, but now I wouldn’t even want to touch the plate! I would try letting her know that by purchasing meat dishes she is still funding cruelty to animals (even if she isn’t eating it).
You can also share our animal testing video with your friend and let her know the kind of cruelty that goes into the products. She probably isn’t even aware! http://www.peta2.com/videos/testing-one-two-three/
Thanks again for being such a good veg friend! Please e-mail us at peta2@peta2.com if you have any other questions.

If she leaves the meat on the plate at restaurants, then that is wasteful and even worse than eating it! Not all vegetarians don’t buy animal tested products, but she should at least care and make an effort. She is sort of a vegetarian, bu not an especially good one.

My friend claims to be a vegetarian (and I do believe her on that) but no one knows she is a vegetarian besides me and my mom. She says she orders plates (like at a restuarant) with meat on it, but she only eats the veggies, and gets “full” before she eats the meat. The thought of meat touching my food is gross and makes me sick. So is she really a vegetarian? And also she says she loves animals yet she acts like products tested on animals is not a big deal. Opinions would be great
thanks guys!
Is she a vegetarian?
