I grew up in Mexico so I spend every Holiday back over there with my family and I have news for you…there is such a thing as vegan tamales, and they’re amazing! Just ask your family to use vegetable shortening instead of lard, and to make your tamales of beans, veggies, potato, or even vegan chorizo. You’ll love them! You can also make tacos, burritos, and any other food vegan!
@LittleLotte is right. You can Google search for nearly every dish and come up with a recipe very quickly. Just be sure you include “vegan” in your search. Here’s a recipe I found, – http://www.veganmexicanfood.com/tamales.htm but feel free to go on a little recipe search until you find one that you think will satisfy your tastes.
Heck yeah there is! Check to see if your library has the Vegan Lunchbox, there’s a recipe for black bean tamales in there. Also, if I can get a hold of the recipe, I will so share, but I was in Chicago for a music fest and there was a tamale stand with these vegan black bean and corn tamales and that had to be one of the best things I have ever ate.
