I have been vegetarian for a year and months and have been steadily making my way toward complete veganism over the past months. Being vegetarian is awesome, and going vegan would make an even bigger positive difference for animals. Even though I have been trying new vegan substitutes(such as vegan butter, cheese, mayo, milk, ect.) going all out vegan is a bit daunting. To be completely honest though, the situation I am most worried about is being at someone’s house or going out to eat with someone and not having vegan options served. I am just so shy and easily intimidated that it sounds scary to be in that situation. That may sound ridiculous to some of you but I am terrible at being with people and being vegan would only make things more difficult. Does anyone else have any problems with being social or staying true to veganism when out with other people? I need advice!

I look at menu’s before I go out or I’ll eat before and get an appetizer, usually you can find a vegan appetizer. But honestly at most restaraunts the only vegan item is a salad :( I’m not that big on salads honestly. I eat them now and then but they aren’t my favorite.

Good job to committing to go vegan! Don’t worry about going to peoples houses bc your good friends will know your vegan and either way it your ethics should be respected. There are lots of eating out options, Indian places often have vegan foods, subway’s the iltalian and wheat (and i think another) breads are vegan, as well as bbq sauce to go on your sub, and fries and salads are also easy easy vegan options but remember to be careful with the dressings and no honey mustard.

Remember that letting people know you might not eat something may be hard for you but that you are standing up for what is rights and creating awareness!

Being vegan doesn’t make going out more difficult if you’re dedicated, but it sometimes can make other people more difficult and likely to attack you.

Just bring your own food, plan ahead, look up vegan friendly restaurants.

And don’t cave in at a friend’s house if “oh all we have is milk and cheese”.
