• Killing spiders

So I had no idea where to put this. But I was wondering. Do you guys kill spiders? Because, I can leave small spiders alone. But when they’re really huge I just need them gone, and I’m afraid of them so I can’t just pick them up and put them outside. So I end up killing them, and that makes me feel kind of guilty, but I can’t help it that they scare me. (Also I’m one of the few guys being afraid of spiders, it’s really lame xd)

I just throw them outside. =)
Once you get past the furriness, the many eyes, and the eight lelegs, they’re actually pretty cute and interesting. Except tarantulas. They’re scary.

Just the ones I know that will make your skin rot all the way down to your flesh if they bite you.

I just pick them straight up with my hands, no matter how big or small. My mum always taught me “if you want to live and thrive, let a spider run alive”.

There are some vacuum catchers that are really appealing.
I’m thinking of getting one even though I really can’t afford it.
Would be great for flies and other insects that usually move before I can put something over the top of them, and insects like wasps that I really don’t want to get close to.

Note: The BugZooka is awesome because it requires no electricity but it looks like it might slam the insects too hard
Note2: Most of the electricity powered ones appear to be the same product renamed or modified slightly, so make sure you don’t get ripped off. You can probably just go with the cheapest one.

Alright, thanx. I’ll try to be more inventive now. Not allowed to seal my place however, since I live in a rented student’s place now. And I leave the windows open anyway so it won’t make a big difference. Mission of searching a big jar beginning soon!

    Hey @Ayden,

No need to kill them! Just carefully trap them in an inverted jar and release them outside. :) You can also buy a humane bug catcher here: http://www.petacatalog.com/products/Humane_Bug_Catcher-584-0.html?utm_source=peta2&utm_medium=Blog%2BEntry&utm_campaign=Humane%2BBug%2BCatcher. :)

I used to kill them because I was raised by parents who killed them as though they weren’t even living things.
Upon re-thinking all of the things that I was raised to do, I realized that I shouldn’t be killing the spiders and now I catch them and let them go at the very edge of my yard in hope that they won’t find their way back to my house.
I used to have relatives catch the really fast ones and the jumping ones because I was too afraid to, but I’ve gotten used to catching them myself now.
If you’d rather just not have to deal with this problem, you can begin a mission to seal all holes & cracks in your house where spiders could come in (using caulk or something similar).
    This works surprisingly well.
You can even keep ants out of your house like this, even though they’re smaller and better at finding holes & cracks.

Try to find a larger container then! ;)

Even if they’re legs are too big, if you’re gentle they’ll fold their legs inside whatever size container you have rather than get them squashed.

The one I saw yesterday was too big to fit in a cup xd

I don’t kill spiders. I either leave them where they are or, if I think my cat might chase them, I put them outside.

If you don’t want to touch them then why not use a cup and a piece of card to catch them? Or there are other humane devices you can use to trap and release insects without having to touch them (my mum has a spider catching device on the end of a long stick so she doesn’t even have to go near them).
