lady gaga said: “To campaigners, save your flour to make bread for the children who are hungry. And Kim Kardashian is fabulous.”. Well she wore a meat dress, she could have given some hungry kids the meat instead of making a dress out of it you can only get one use out of.Also Lady Gaga previously told Ellen DeGeneres, ‘I hate fur and I don’t wear fur.’..And this quote about animal rights “I do not support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for ANY CAUSE,”. Last time I checked being against this http://bit.ly/LPC6hJ was not any of those.

    Hey @jakehot1,

From a moral standpoint, actions that harm others are not matters of personal choice. Check out our mission to speak up for animals killed for their fur: http://www.peta2.com/achievements/share-nine-shocking-fur-facts/home/

Wearing red shoes instead of black shoes is a personal decision.
Supporting the torture and murder of innocent defenseless beings for the sake of fashion isn’t a personal decision.

I don’t really care about the fact that she wears fur. It would be great if she didn’t but it’s her personal decision.

    Hey @silencescreams,

Before signing with Cover Girl, Ellen was diligent in making sure that Cover Girl no longer tests on animals. She made it crystal clear that the company’s “no testing” policy was essential in order for her to agree to be its spokesperson. We love her for that! It is because of principled people like Ellen that we will see an end to animal testing for cosmetics. :)

Cover Girl’s parent company, Procter & Gamble (P&G), announced in 1999 that it had revised its animal-testing policy. However, P&G has not permanently halted all nonrequired animal experiments. According to P&G, it will not perform experiments on many existing products, but it has not agreed to stop testing new ingredients and products on animals. :(

Be sure to check out our “Take Action” page for ways that you can help animals used in cruel experiments: http://www.peta2.com/actions/.

Wow!!! I can’t believe she actually said all of that! That is really arrogant of her. I support that she’s for the advancement for GLBT rights at least, and has done many actions to advance that, but this situation leads me to wonder if she’d turn her back on that too when it’s no longer getting her the attention she craves.

Honestly I think Gaga was on the right path and that her fur was probably faux.
I also think that she’s a flaky person who might very well end up taking the wrong path just to get even with the animal rights activists who pissed her off.

    @ silencescreams

It’s not hypocrisy in Ellen’s case, it’s progress.
She’s still progressing towards a complete comprehension of the impact her choices and actions have on the world and on the other beings in it.
Her efforts as a dietary vegan alone have already had a massive positive impact.

Rather than being bothered that she’s promoting Covergirl products, just be glad that she’s on the right path and that she’s helping to put tens-of-thousands of other people on the right path.
Be glad that — unlike most Covergirl promoters who cause harm to animals while doing nothing to help them — she’s putting her time, money and celebrity influence into a mission to help end animal abuse and exploitation.
Also keep in mind that she’s probably using some, if not all, of her Covergirl money to help animals and she’s likely going to speak to Covergirl execs about the animal “testing” (aka torture), and her words are likely to be given serious consideration.

Generally speaking, if an influential celebrity shows concern about animal abuse & exploitation, it’s best to just leave them alone and be glad that they’re aware of the issue and that they haven’t taken a selfish, heartless, gluttonous stance like so many others have in the past.
The most we should do is send them letters behind the scenes to encourage them and further inform them in hope that they progress.
We definitely don’t want to upset them with public criticism. Their influence plays too large a part in ending the pain and suffering of animals.

Agreed. I wonder what she would say when confronted…

However she is not the only one being hypocritical, Ellen (who I actually like and find really entertaining… Lady Gaga I am not a big fan of) went vegan after watching Earthings, yet she is a spokesperson for Covergirl (who test on animals)
