Hey there all so I’m in my first year of university and been here about a month now and cooking for myself too…. kinda sick of what I’m eating already and I was hoping you guys could provide some ideas that are possible on a student budget? Also I am in the UK and we don’t have all the same brands you have or the same names of food so keep that in mind please guys and yes I’m ordering the peta vegan cookbook but that’ll take a few weeks to reach me.

    Help please?

Dried Soya pieces? I’ll give that a google.

I’ll have a look at their own brand as well and I’m rather pleased to say I now have jerk seasoning ^^

When I lived in Canterbury it was easy to be vegan, but that was several years ago now. I used to buy large bags of dried soya pieces which used to last for ages: you just soak the amount you need and use instead of chicken or mince in recipes.

Also, if Sainsbury’s is the nearest then buy their own brand of meat-free stuff, a lot of it is vegan and is often on the two for £3 deal. For example, their sausages are cheaper than Linda McCartney’s and can easily be used in bolognase, to make sausage rolls etc.

Sainsbury’s is the nearest, we have a highstreet a little way away but trecking back with shopping really isn’t fun, those are all only small shops though anyway and I’ve only seen a marks & spencers there which is tiny. I know there’s an asda somewhere but it’s apparently not in walking distance, so I’ve been told.

    Do you not have Tesco?
    Don’t limit yourself to Sainsbury’s.
And sorry but I’m not sure Margate will be that much better.
