My name is Madison, and I am 15. I get so frustrated with my friends and people I’m around. No one seems to understand veganism. Any fellow vegan teens have this problem? I’m starting to wonder if I’m alone…

I’m 20, and I’m still having these issues. I can’t find any friends who feel as compassionate as I do about animals, and most guys that I’m (remotely) interested in are meat-eaters. I’d love to meet someone who is vegan and knows everything I’ve put up with while still remaining to be vegan.

Me too! I’m 14 and I just recently turned Vegan. Most people think I’m a tree-hugger or “ridiculous” to cut out so many food sources. It really gets to me sometimes, but you just have to ignore them or they’ll get the best of you. They’re the misfortunate ones.

I’m 19 and I’ve been vegetarian for a long time. Two weeks ago I became vegan but I haven’t told my family yet because I know this will cause lots of fights… I’m already considered an “unhealthy freak” because I don’t eat meat, so they’re probably going to freak out when I tell them lol. But I don’t really care. I know that I’m healthy and happy with my lifestyle and I’m old enough to make my own decisions ;)

Hello, Madison & welcome to the street team! You aren’t alone. If you’d like to chat about anything, always feel free to post on the boards. Fortunately, as @amarie said, most of us here understand. You’ve come to the right place. :)

Don’t forget that you can also take action for animals ( http://www.peta2.com/actions/ ) and share information that may shed some light to your friends on the issues. Who knows, a few of your friends might even go vegan!

I’m 17. I’ve been vegetarian for a long time, and vegan for a while. It does get easier once people get to know you and can not just see you as that vegan girl. Also, try not to force your opinion on others. Because nobody likes to be pressured.

unless you move to a commune of vegans, you probably wont see an end to that problem in your lifetime, as unfortunate as that may be.
But!! Thanks to the internet, you can virtually meet the other folks like you and bitch about it with us haha

I’m 21 and still have this issue. You’re not alone though. Believe it or not there are many vegans or vegetarians. The thing is that you need to find and reach out for them.
