    Happy National Fruit Cocktail Day!
    Officially “Fruit Cocktail” must contain:
    30% to 50% diced peaches, any yellow variety
    25% to 45% diced pears, any variety
    6% to 16% diced pineapple, any variety
    6% to 20% whole grapes, any seedless variety
    2% to 6% cherry halves, any light sweet or artificial red variety (usually maraschino cherries)

    Stay away from the canned stuff, unless it’s vegan and organic…no carmine-dyed cherries!

    Best fruit cocktail ever is homemade!
    Shop local and organic if you can.
    Visit a farmer’s market. They have the best of what’s in season!
    Make it colorful…more colors means more nutrients!
    Include some citrus (oranges, tangerines, etc) or sprinkle with citrus juice to keep fruit from turning brown.
    Chop it, toss it all up and dig in!

    Spice it up if you want too…
    Spicy Fresh Fruit Cocktail

    Ingredients:
    fresh fruit such as jicama, cucumbers, pineapple, watermelon, oranges, mango and/or melon
    ground chile powder
    salt
    fresh squeezed lime juice

    According to the Rules of the Interwebs, you shouldn’t post someone else’s entire recipe, only part of it with a link to the rest, unless you’ve changed the recipe up bigtime.

    Eat it by the bowl or…
    Plop it on top of waffles or pancakes.
    Mix it in with vegan yogurt.
    Use it as a topping for vegan ice cream or pound cake…yumza! :)
