So, when a food product says “may contain milk.” Is it more likely that it does or doesn’t contain milk?

it doesn’t, it’s just a legal cover-our-asses thing for people with severe allergies. I still eat things that say they may contain milk/eggs/whatever, because I know the company doesn’t want to be sued, so they take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination.

For me personally, I don’t want to take any chances, so I avoid products like that.

Manufacterers usually have to put this on their packaging to warn allergy sufferers, most vegans choose to think the product doesn’t contain enough milk to make it not-vegan.
