If the infamous McCruelty had vegetarian and vegan alternatives alongside their regular products, would you fellow vegs buy these cruelty free products even though McCruelty stills murders chickens, cows, and pigs?

I don’t go to McDonalds now, and I probably wouldn’t even with the veg options. But I think if a lot of people buy their cruelty free products, McDonald’s may realize that cruelty free is the way to go. It all depends on what the customers demand.

It’s an interesting issue because I’d like to see them rewarded for moving in the right direction so that they’ll keep moving in that direction, but, no, I personally wouldn’t purchase vegan food at a McCruelty’s.

However, if they were to open a second chain of vegan-only restaurants under a different name, I would eat at one of those.
The reason being that the opening of this second chain would create a situation in which the corporation can fairly easily replace a McCruelty’s restaurant with one of their vegan restaurants whenever they find that the vegan restaurant would produce a greater profit.
The potential for rapid progression in the right direction would be much greater than it would be if McCruelty’s just began adding vegan items to their menu.
There is also some psychology which plays a big role but this reply will get too long and complicated if I go into that.

@MysteryMalice, I think we’re having a bit of a mis-communication here seeing as we live in quite different countries. I just don’t look at people and decide they’re stupid. I do business with them and come to this conclusion. not only that, my brother worked at mcdonald’s and can authenticate my statements. And yes, i give half respect to people who work for a living, as opposed to mooching off of welfare, and the rest of it comes when they’re at least a decent worker.
And no, I’m pretty sure employees of all the major fast food places would love to trade places with us. Everything is chill, no deep frying, we’re allowed to wear shorts and we make tips on top of minimum wage. Also, on a more topic related note, we cater to vegetarians/vegans. It’s a pretty sweet job.

@peppermintcherry That really sounds quite a harsh judgement there on the peoples appearance. How does someone ‘look’ like they lack common sense? I’m not saying it you need brains to work at mcdonalds or any fast food chain, but at least these people have self respect and work for a living, which is a lot more than most people do these days.
I respect anyone who works for a living.
Can’t say I’ve ever been to a fast food chain and looked at the staff and thought “oh they’re on drugs” however, maybe it’s different here in England. And maybe all the staff in your six local Mcdonalds do look like they are on drugs with no intelligence, but it’s a bit of a sweeping statement to make really isn’t it? And a tad harsh. Maybe the maccies staff think the same about the staff at your work?

@MysteryMalice like i said, majority, but not all. And it’s not just hygiene, it’s the kind of people they get to work there. We have like 6 mcdonald’s in my town, all the people that work there all look like they do drugs and lack basic common sense. I work at a fast food place, but we don’t even consider the kind of people that generally make up McDonald’s employment pool

@peppermintcherry I agree, especially on the topic of subway, in fact as I remember peta2 actually mentions/mentioned about going to subway on the going veg is easy page and suggested going to subway and getting the veggie sub as it’s vegan. :/ I guess it’s because Maccies and KFC are huge international chains. Then again, doesn’t subway have outlets all over the world too?
On the subject of ‘nasty workers’ I think that’s generalising a bit, any place that serves you food could have someone with poor hygiene touching and serving you food.

@VeganCaramel as I understand. I was only using McDonald’s as an example for the question; I was not saying they are the only restaurant that condones cruelty. For the sake of the argument, this particular company was used, just as easily as Burger King or Wendy’s . No one thinks that only McDonald’s participates in these cruelties.

McDonald’s is just in the line of fire, like peppermintcherry mentioned. Many other fast food restaurants condone the exact same amount of animal cruelty. We would be foolish to think that McDonald’s is the only fast food chain to participate in this!

Look around for veg*n restaurants, make food at home and invite friends over for picnics, dinner parties, etc.

I agree guys, I wouldn’t eat there either.
@peppermintcherry That is true, other restaurants are still cruel with vegan options too. Those places are cruel too, but McDonal’s tends to use very inhumane methods for their chickens specifically. (Even though animal murder is still inhumane).

I love how mcDonald’s is cruel, but other places that serve meat and cheese, but with vegan options are totally out of the range of fire. Like subway for instance, or wendy’s, or backyard burger, or red robin ect. ect.

but to answer your question, no. I know what kind of trash is the majority of mcdonald’s workers and I don;t want them touching my food.

Considering how nasty the people are that work and eat there, I’ll opt out and keep making my own lunch. You never know who didn’t wash their hands before making your big mac.

I still don’t think I would go because it would still be supporting how cruel they are.
