The standard-bearer of the hamburger, McDonald’s, is bowing to local demand and is opening a meat-free restaurant in India.

I wouldn’t eat there. I applaud their efforts with a vegetarian restaurant, but I feel as though the only reason they’re doing so is because of religious beliefs, not ethical reasons. The reason I wouldn’t eat there is because its still Mc Donald’s, and they’re still profiting from it and they’re still slaughter innocent animals. If they shut down all of the meat selling locations and went totally vegetarian, then maybe I’d give it a shot :)

I think it’s really cool, maybe if it does well they will open up more vegetarian locations in other countries, I would just be happy to have more vegetarian fast food options. I get the aspect of not wanting to support McDonalds, but in the same sense I find it similar to peta2 encouraging ordering vegan options from Taco Bell, even though they are owned by the same place that KFC is, and the money is going to the same spot. I think it’s just supporting the fact that these companies have veg*an options, opposed to just burgers/chicken/etc, it’s showing them that there is a market for meat free, even in the fast food world.

I think they are doing it to cater more to people who don’t eat meat for religious reason than for compassionate reasons.

That’s good that they are trying to go meat-free but it is still only ONE restaurant. They should start doing this is the U.S. I still wouldn’t trust them though and wouldn’t visit this location since it’s still money going is McDonald’s pocket. I just hate McDonalds so much for all the cruelty towards animals and just how disgusting is is. I stopped eating there almost two years ago when I found a roach in my fries. EW!

Wouldn’t eat there, because it’s still money in their pockets, but at least it’s one less restaurant selling meat.

i still won’t eat in mc if its all vegetarian because there not doing to stop the killing of chickens and cows its because there no money getting in mc. to me its still a way for mc to get $ and not to save the animals. i wouldn’t even step foot in there if it went all vegetarian.

Holy crap. We were just theoretically discussing this on these boards a few weeks ago. This is awesome!
If I find the other thread I’ll copy/paste my thoughts on it.

I’m not really sure if I would buy this. I don’t really trust McDonald’s, but I’ll have a look at the restaurant (:

@toastfairy I’ll join you for the dumpster dive ;)

I would definitely like to have a look round the restaurant and the menu.. whether i would actually buy anything would be a different story. I suppose you could always dumpster dive from them if you were morally against giving them money.

There making steps, but for the wrong reason. If they were to profit off me that is still money going to a business that causes mass deaths.

I have always loved animals, no matter what shape, size, color, species they are. I started as a vegetarian a few years ago, but i only knew that i didn't want to eat animal. i stoped for a while when i lost my job and ate what i could. no excuse i know. but soon later to realized my mission in life and purpose. i am here to be the voice of those who do not speak human. i changed my outlook to this because i found a boxer mix dog laying under my porch. she had gotten hit by a car and was severely starved. everyone around me was like leave it alone, you don't know where it came from, but i didn't care i had to save her. i rushed her to the emergency vet clinic where they did immediate surgery on her. despite those peoples commentary i saved a dogs life and from that point on i knew that if people treated a dog that way i wonder how people treat non domestic animals. I researched and came across peta2 where i now am an animal activist and vegan. I continue to help and save animals that i find and plan on never changing my ways for any one.
