I just turned vegetarian, but my family keeps discouraging me! I ask them to watch that “Farm to Fridge” video on YouTube, but they won’t. How can I be a vegetarian in a meat-eating family?

No worries they’ll come around. My parents did when I stopped being all up in their face about it

Just ignore them and stand your ground, it’s the only way! You can also try leaving notes on your fridge or on napkins in your house with cool facts about being a vegetarian and negative facts about being a meat eater :P They need to respect your choice, that’s all that matters! If they decide to become vegetarian as well, that’s even better. Good luck

I totatly understand! I have been veggie since I was in the 6th grade I am now 19. And still they discourage me. It got so bad that the only thing I could eat was pastas, and junk food. My family only cooks instant potatoes and corn as veggies which are just starches!! I gain a ton of weight instead of loosing it, now an adult I am becoming more healthy and trying to shed the weight. Don’t get discouraged!! They will eventually at least deal with it.

Honey, I know your pain I am LITERALLY the only veg. BUt just dont worry about it, just squash down any attempt they make to change your mind. I have been a vegetarian for a year and some months. I usually make my own food just incas they try to slip something that shouldnt be there. Yo can email a video or two to your parents. I got y mom to stop eating pork and beef because of a video (I am still aiming to get her to cut out all meat.) Like I always say to my friends that ry to shove a burger in my face “I’ve managed to stay vegetarian around my family this long, thre is nothing you can do.” It always helps to have a close friend, not just some stranger that happens to be vegetarian too; but a buddy you can share things with and talk about lots of stuff. I have a friend, Daniel Hennesy, and I really look up to him and he made me realize I am not alone. Sometimes they may never approve. My dad (doesn’t live with me) said that I wasn’t being smart with my dietary choices. I’ve always been sure about it but when he told me that, I took it kind of hard. I havent seen him in about 6 years and I always hold his opinion of me very highly. So like I said it always helps to have a buddy. :3

Feel free to add and message me. i would be glad to be a buddy for you or answer any questions.
I wish you the best of luck!! :D
